the innotabs are very slow and not very responsive, i ordered my daughter one (3) as our older 5 year old has an ipad and she tries to use this, but to be honest we got the innotab cheap at very as £30 off first order and couple games carry case etc it worked out over £120 and have sent it all back and purchased an iPad for her. it hink the child pad/ipads etc are much better than these and think if your child is used to iPhone/laptop etc it will be a disappointment for them. i think the good thing is the colour...shame ipad dont do a pink one!

I've bought one each for my kids (4&5) for Christmas, both blue as my daughter would be most unimpressed with a pink one lol. I have to be honest I think they're great, I've been buying apps for them and downloading Fireman Sam etc onto them so therefore playing with them to see how the games work etc.
I have to be honest, I was really, incredibly worried about how responsive the screens would be and did almost buy them both android tablets (as they play with mine) but I'm really very impressed with them. I love them and think that even full price they're a fantastic buy. I've found even a light tap with the stylus is enough.
My 5 year old has her own laptop and adores it (mostly for the cbeebies website) but I honestly believe she'll be spending less time on that and more time on this.
It's a shame you had trouble with yours, though I'm sure your daughter will love her own Ipad :)

I think there will always be mixed opinions on these but i suppose like anything you get what you pay for and you are right they are very good for the money even at full price i just know my 3 year old will prefer the ipad after me playing wit the innotab as the other downfall i think with the innotab is the small screen and lack of colour. my friend has also returned her innotab and she has bought a similar thing to ipad from toys r us adn she says tahts great to compared to inntoab.... its al about preferneces i suppose but i am probably biased as i do love apple! good luck with the innotab ;-)

How many 5yr olds do you think have an iPad?

How many parents would want to splash the cash on an iPad for a 5yr old?

I don't think anybody is buying one of these thinking of them as being an iPad replacement/alternative.

I've bought one in the hope to wean my 18 month old off my iPad. He's a wizz on the iPad and I'm honestly worried that even tho it states 3+ he may find it boring!
  • I bought one to wean a friends 2 year old away from her smart phone (which was worth ~£400 at time of purchase.) Little one has since knackered the phones speaker by turning it up to loud - it's amazing how adept she is at using it and knows all the controls (I know my mum who is an intelligent woman would take weeks to be able to use it as proficiently.)
