Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailyt hreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
The weather isn't too bad here so far, DW loaded but not full enough to set going, I have a lie in as he doesn't have to be at work 'til 8, he didn't have time to eat his pack up yesterday, it's still in the fridge at work. I have phone calls & paperwork to do this morning, no shopping as I have plenty in & the farm man will be delivering tomorrow & leave me eggs & fruit. The WM will go on a couple of times & hopefully the washing will dry outside.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

  • Morning Hester and all who follow

I enjoyed last night's wedding party much more than expected and stayed til half10. It was an ex-colleague who I am still close too, but the other ex-colleagues there I'm not close with so I find sometimes I'm a bit on my own when we get together. Plus they all still work there and hate it, yet do nothing about it, but moan at me all the time for escaping :rotfl:.

Today I am going to Abergavenny Food Festival :D. We have been the last 4 years and love it. Lots of free samples of yummy food and stuff to buy. Hoping we will be back by 5pm (it's just over an hours drive away), so I can finish off my college work before the new series of Strictly starts :j:j.

OS wise - WM on and will go out on line before I leave, dishes to wash, if I don't buy something for tea at food festival I will have freezer meal.

    Have a good day all

Cat-smith Keep safe wishes for DH.

Elona Get well hugs for your DD

Hilstep Hope that your arm heals quickly

Hope I haven't forgotten too many people, I have been reading this week but I have been so busy at work that I haven't had time to post.

Last night all of our children went out to different parties and OH and I went to the pub for a meal, it has been years since we have been able to do that without taking at least one child with us or rushing back to collect one of them from somewhere. It felt like we have entered another phase of our lives.:D

Today I need to visit Mr M's as we have no food in the house and we are almost out of loo roll!!!!!

Have a lovely sunny day everyone.:)
  • Good Morning All

Lovely sunshine here and a good forcast.

Todays plans - drop DS footie training & take DD Chiropractor, for the rest of the day I shall shut the door to my office so I cannot see the mountain of messy paperwork that needs to be attacked :rotfl: and potter around the house.

It has been quite a stressful week and need to have some proper relaxing time.

Just about to sort some washing out as should be a good drying day today, dinner tonight will be chicken wraps and hope to pick up some brisket for tomorrow.

    Have a great day all.x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Blue sky peeping through light cloud here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early. Washing ready to go out on the line.

Dinner last night was pork chops from the new Farm shop I visited yesterday, such delicious looking food, and the pork chops were excellent, they were more expensive than I woud have paid at the SM but the difference in quality was huge. The Farm shop had a large range of different meats and when I walked in the Butcher is someone that I knew when he was the Butcher at another shop - so will definitely been going back.

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday, did manage to get all the clothes that were dry, ironed, and now have another small load and the one's that will be going out on the line shortly to do - hopefully will manage to get that done this morning. Haven't planned a main meal for today as I will be taking the boys to mum's for 2pm'ish and we'll be heading off to the hotel, it's got a pub in the grounds too, so may well sit in the pub with a few glasses of something alcoholic and chill! Would like to run the hoover over the carpets if I can get myself in to gear - haven't packed a bag yet for our overnight stay - but that won't take too long as I have sorted some bits that I want to take already.

Did my main shop at A**i yesterday, just such a shame that they don't stock a beer that DH will drink, so I have to visit another SM to get it - also 1 or 2 other bits were needed - not a horrendous spend but would always like it to be less! Have a vague idea of a menu plan to start next week, and so will be trying to use up the food from the fridge without throwing anything away and without buying anything extra - I have plenty of all the basics so extra spends should not really be necessary except for milk - but can buy this without spending anything more at little local shop.

Enjoy the good weather today, as it certainly seems to be turning cooler first thing in the morning and last thing at night!

Have a good day, stay safe and well x

    Morning all

Nice and sunny here, got about 3 loads to wash so should mainly dry outside, last lot might have to go in drier.

Bit of shopping to do, some food, some winter prep stuff, then as it's nice DH has suggested we drive to Blackpool to let littlies walk by the sea. Not been for years, nice to have an afternoon out for a change!

Not much else to report ATM; have a good day and love and hugs to those in need. :grouphug:

Morning all - DH is out for the weekend and Mum is staying, so we're going to take some stuff to the charity shop, have breakfast in a cafe, and pick up some stuff for dinner tonight. Lamb shanks, roasties, parsnips and carrots.

Things are difficult in the family at the moment, but Mum is calm for now and slept well last night.

Hope everyone has a good day :)
