thanks all for replying and assurance.

I just want to know what they can do if they can prove that you are driver.

You can tell them you were the driver, I doesn't matter a flying fig !

In a recent binding court case a Judge ruled that only the LANDOWNER can take the driver to court to claim actual losses from you parking there.

So - you were parked in a free car park ? Yes.

Do UKPC own the land and car park ? 99.999999999% No they dont.

Has the landowner lost anything from you parking there ? No.

As per the advice from above, stop worrying theres NOTHING they can do about it. All you have to do is ignore their threats.

The onlytime you need to respond to them is if they actually send official stamped county court papers, then you come back here for further advice and a defence in which they wont succeed in winning.
To my knowledge no ppc has won a correctly defended case from advice followed from here or pepipoo.

    They can DO practically nothing.
They WILL send lots of scary letters designed to scare you. They did that to me and I am a pretty sensible person. They will feed on your uncertainty. That's how they make money - some people pay up, too scared to step back and assess the situation.
When you understand it (thanks MSE!) you will see that even if they know you are the driver they need to (in no special order):
    1. Be legally able to pursue you - often they have not the legal power to do this because they are not the landowner
    2. Be able to prove to a court they have actually lost this money and it's not a "fine". They cannot "fine" you, any more than I can.
    3. Be able to prove their relationship with you was one where you knowingly and reasonably entered into a contract with them that you fully understood and which was fair from the outset. That's going to be a VERY rare situation.

But they will lie, pretend, issue threats, and attempt to deceive you over this until they send the very last letter.
