Oh I am just so confused! I am thinking about signing up for 18185 but am not sure if this is the right one for me.Basically my husband is with BT, he is allowed 2 free minutes to 'ring home' on his mobile as long as he hangs up we do not get charged, just enough to say I 'll be home in 20 mins etc.I usually ring him with a couple of rings and he phones me back , however I have noticed although we have a Total BT broaband package with all our calls on , (we also pay the extra £4 odd extra for our unlimited daytime calls) we are still receiving quite a bill, I have found the culprit, 16p every time I ring him and hang up for him to ring me back, the duration says 2 seconds or 3 seconds on the bill, I rang them and this is apparrently the connection charge , what a rip off! My daughter had spoke to her friend for almost a minute on his mobile and payed the same 16p.There seems to be no way of getting out of a connection fee, all I want is to make the 2 rings not talk, any ideas if that would be the right deal for me with 18185? Thanks folks

It's my understanding that, provided he doesn't answer your calls (i.e. you effectively just dump your CLI on his cellphone screen so he can see you're calling and will then call you back), you shouldn't be charged. It's then not a completed call and so charging should not start...... we are still receiving quite a bill, I have found the culprit, 16p every time I ring him and hang up for him to ring me back, the duration says 2 seconds or 3 seconds on the bill, I rang them and this is apparrently the connection charge , what a rip off! BT charge a minimum of a minute now so the charge would be right for an answered call (and your daughter's short calls).
18185 would charge a minimum (for an answered call) of 5p connection + 6p for the first minute.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

A auto dialler only affects outgoing calls made by you,not incoming ones.It is possible however to sometimes cut the costs of diverted mobiles calls but you need to give further info. Please advise. Are you on BT, is it a biz line or residential, if its residential have you cps your calls to another supplier.0 -

A couple more questions.
Is it a BT Biz or Res line.
As your still paying BT for your line rental, are you therefore paying BT for your call divert facility, and paying BT for the diverted calls to mobile .
(As if your are paying TT Biz then you would have moved your line rental to Talk Talk also.).0 -
sorry, line rental and divert now all payable to tt biz.....
any suggestion appreciated

Sorry to say as you have moved your line rental, call divert etc to talk talk biz you are lumbered with their prices for diverted calls.Only BT allow you to cps your calls to a cheaper supplier.
Are you lumbered you with one of these contracts if you wish to move away.
"24 month contract minimum term applies to all plans. There is a rolling 30 day notice period during the last month of your contract after which the contract auto-renews. If the contract is terminated within the minimum term, you will be liable for your regular charges until the end of the contract term plus an average of the last 3 months call spending, (subject to a minimum of £100)"0 -
thanks for that:eek:
so thers no way of getting my call charges down on divert at all then?
spose the only other way is to let them leave a message and call them back using my free mobile minutes....at least that way they wont talk too long lol
if you do come up eith anything please let me know as monthly bills already hit £80 + and it's not busy season yet.
thanks again
