Doit4real holidays for 10-17 yr olds

  • Dont get me wrong, my children went on and enjoyed Doit4Real last year but it only cost £100 then.(lottery assisted). We have just had a brochure for this year and it is now going to cost us £399 each - woah! a big big increase, and not really feasible for us. I note that the camp is now only 5 nights hence only 4 days of activities.......

However, they have just returned from a 7-night, (6 action packed days) Easter camp run by A.T.E Superweeks at a cost of £265pp but with discounts for siblings. Since arriving home they have not stopped talking about their time there: the fun and laughter they experienced in the activities, drama, crafts, games, singing, swimming pool, day out, .... the list goes on .... the great friends they made and the quality of the staff ('monitors' and 'director').

As a parent I cannot rave about these holidays enough - completely :j wholesome and quality holidays PLUS the fact that it seems to me to be the only organisation of its kind who run a week-long residential TRAINING COURSE which would-be monitors HAVE to complete successfully before being allowed to work on their Superweeks. The 'Superweek directors' are highly experienced and further trained before taking office. Very reassuring, as not sure about the abilities of some of Doit4Reals staff last year.

I urge you to check ATE Superweeks out: they have an extensive programme for Summer 07 AND will save you money!!! We're booked.......

I think you may be pleased if you read the terms more closely.

    Doit4real site states:
'Standard price is £399 – this applies to people who are not eligible for a concession and young people living outside of England.
The £199 concession price is available for participants from families who are in receipt of Child Tax Credit'.

I would think that the majority of people would be get the concession price, as the Child Tax Credits web site states:

'Families with children can claim Child tax Credit if their income is no more than £58,175 a year (up to £66,350 if you have a child under one). The amount you get depends on various things, including your annual income'.

In other words, if you have a child, under 18, in full time education, and your joint family income is under £58,175, then you should be in receipt of Child Tax Credit. As such you get the £199 price.

    Hope that this clarifies things.

And in reply to bj-sailaway, my daughter attended the Hawkshead centre and had a great time!

Please note, much to my nephews disapointment, the £25 concession for people on benefits doesnt apply to people who live in Wales.
    Oh well.

Thanks to jaxsaver for the info re Child tax credit etc etc. Despite all my parents ever taught me I STILL didn't read the small print!!! Works out very similar price , ATE very marginally cheaper, tho ATE win my vote this year for their sibling discount and the fact that the children are away for two extra days!! And the children are hooked - cant change their minds it seems!

(tho I see that some of their hols are 10days even........!) Also the children are ATE hooked after their Easter experience and therre's no changing their minds it seems. FEEL FREE TO JOIN THEM!!!! What would be the cost if you are recieving child tax credit AND working tax credit as it is a bit misleading on the website and says working families tax credit
Many thanks to OP by the way .

    Here's your answer:
If your family's annual household income is £15,940 or less, you may be entitled to working family tax credit and you can apply for a concessionary £25 place at summer camp for each of your children aged 10-17 who wishes to come to camp.
If you're getting both Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, it will cost you £25. Working Family Tax Credit no longer exists - it was replaced with Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.
