Top Toys Christmas 2012?

I was looking for a list of the Top Toys for Christmas for my Children as I dont know what to buy for them this year!
I thought about a remote control car and a toy hoover for our 2 year old boy? we seem to have every other toy in the world!
My daughter is 6 and easily led by what everyone else wants, I know a couple of years ago a cousin ended up paynig over the odds for a GoGo Hamster thingy and I dont want that to happen to us.
I have heard murmurs of Furbies being brought out again, but i'm not sure how they work as it mentions Apps, we have an Iphone in our household but I dont really wasnt my children playing with it, would they be just as much fun with the use of it?
She is also Moshi Monster mad, and thought about popping a proper membership thingy in her stocking and buying a puzzle or something crafty.
Oh, we normally spend no more than £100 each - we got most of last years shopping for £180, in the Argos 3 for 2 offer
What are you planning on Buying your children this year?

I don't tend to go for the overpriced 'toys of the year' type of thing. They often don't have much play value and the cost can be extortionate. Instead, I look at what my children enjoy, how long toys will be played with, what toys are available, and how much they cost. I don't always get it right though! It's harder now that they are older.
One thing that always goes down well in our house is a selection of craft items. My Crafty Crocodiles catalogue arrived yesterday and my two boys are both going to choose some things out of it. You can buy items individually (I used to use Baker Ross, but they sell a lot of craft stuff in packs of 6 or more). With prices from about 22p for a wooden coaster to decorate, I can buy quite a lot for a low price, and the lads will have plenty to do over the rest of the year.
I also buy a lot of books, as we are all readers. Both lads enjoy DVDs as well. When they were younger, we had a lot of games and jigsaws - fun to do with the kids. Tap-a Shape was a great favourite (where you hammer little nails through wooden shapes to make a picture).0 -
my 2 have chosen a lego mine set and tatty teddy house..no idea what to get 3 year old, he has a learning delay and is fussy about he will play with so i bet ill be buying for him really late.

I have 2 boys - 12 and 6. I'm debating an iPad for 12 year old, any advice on that? 6 year old, I'm really not sure yet. :-)0

The top toys are the ones that usually end up being sold for stupid money on eBay. last year one of them was a pooing dog game. Seriously??
You should get what your children want, not what society thinks they should have.
What about getting your daughter some sugarcrafting materials and books that show her how to make things if she is crafty, you can get them on eBay.
Home bargains has a huge selection of things at the moment - Benderoos for £3.99 or the organising set for £7.99, moon doh, plasticine, books of baking and crafting for children, craft sets, stickers. Perfect for a little girl her age.
I did not know what to get my daughter but went to HB in the week and apart from the pressies Santa will get them (ahem) I am now done. Just a few odds and ends left to get for stockings now. They have been nagging for Jelly Belly but they are expensive so I'll get them some for their stockings.0 -

I'm getting one for DD and it's making my head ache. I get that teccies want a load of choice etc but it is so confusing.
If 6yr old wants something in the same kind of group, this might be an option: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/blackberry-playbook-tablet-pc-16-gb-10647929-pdt.html0 -
Oh and OP my Ds will be 2 by Xmas........and he is running the risk of getting a cuddle for Xmas, as I am totally out of ideas.
Actually he quite likes apples and bananas at the minute, over all other foods. Maybe a fruit salad then, seeing as it's Xmas :rotfl:0 -

My DD is nearly 11 and she's getting a laptop, there's so many games etc that she wants to play that need flash player which you can't get on the iPad. Don't get me wrong, the iPad is great, it's what I use all the time. Depends what he'd use it for.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -

Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
i have 4 children ranging from 4-11, 3 boys and a girl, we are going to euro disney for a week, the week before xmas so thats really there main present this year. but with my boys i find lego is great, they started young and dont seem to outgrow it! you can get bigger sets for lil ones like mega blocks. my youngest has always been really fond on animals so we made him a zoo one year, made on a big mdf board which we could slide under his bed when not being played with. my little girl is 6, and is doll mad, she loves monster high dolls which seem popular and they have brought out lots more this year, and polly pocket. i`ve also made her dolls house before. And as above i agree craft stuff is always a winner, my children love to draw so i always do them a big set of new drawing pads, pencils and paints. play dough is loved by all aswell, we use cheap plastic cookie cutters with it. back to the zoo, like i said we made it onto mdf board, we made enclosures/walls with expanding foam which when set can be shaped/carved easily, i then painted with acrylic paints and stuck on false grass/moss from the model train shop, we also used some perspex to make glass like enclosures, animals can then be bought weekly to add to itOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0
