Buyers TSFE feel like giving up on selling!!!!

  • Auction ended 9 September. Winning bidder with zero feedback. Payment reminder sent to buyer 11 September. Buyer paid by echeque, expected to clear 18-20 September. Add on another three days for the payment to reach my bank account from paypal. I'm only having a bit of a de-clutter, but sometimes really have to wonder if it is worth the hassle.

Do not post until echeque has cleared, they can bounce, its happened to me in the past

No I definitely havent, and paypal do actualy post a message advising not to. The funny thing is that the cost included first class postage.

The buyer might not even realise the payment has gone as an excheque it's quite random on occasions.

  • I make a point of only using photos of what's in the listing, because there are a fair few idiots impulsively buying on eBay, and a fair few opportunists looking for something for nothing, and both groups could cause you considerable grief and account/feedback/DSR damage.

The only time I ever show something other than the item on sale is when it's something very small and I include the edge of a ruler to show scale... even then, just to be safe, I make a point of stating that the ruler is shown to better illustrate the size of the item and is not included in the sale. :)

  • in the past whenever i have received an echeque i have sent an email to the buyer letting them know that the payment was an echeque and that paypal advise against posting the item until an email is sent saying the payment is cleared. I also inform the buyer that they will receive an email from paypal when the payment has cleared.

Most of the buyers then email me back saying they weren't aware it was an echeque...i tell them to check their paypal account. So these buyers would have received their items 2 weeks later and could have potentially left me neutral or negative feedback had i not informed them.

So i think it best that you email the buyer just to let them know and advise they check their paypal account too to double check (they are new after all)

Why does a payment sometimes arrives as an echeque?

I think paypal mentioned something like that when i went to buy something and my card details were due to expire.

I updated my card details and it went through as normal.. But payment goes directly from my bank account not the card.

It can be completely random. I buy a lot on ebay with no issues , but it never ceases to amuse me that about 1 in 4 of my payments to ebay to pay my fees go as an echeque.
