Just wondering if anyone can help me with my question - how does the on-line payment for parking eye work?

I got a letter with a fine from parking eye through the post today - and concerned that the 'fine' was soon about to go up I went on-line to pay.
I entered all my details - the website appeared secure etc. - but at the end it said there had been an 'error'...... but it also gave me a 'payment attempt reference' number.
This concerned me as altough it said there had been an error the simple fact that they give a reference number makes me think they have taken the money - does anyone know if this means they will have debited my account or not?
I think it's all rather mis-leading and I'm now wishing I google the company before trying pay :/

I've no idea whether you have paid or not, but if I were you I would get onto my card company and find out. And if the answer is yes, you have paid, then tell them you've since discovered it's a con trick and you'd like them to do a chargeback. You may not get anywhere, but it can't hurt to ask.

This does raise an important point over the integrity and security of these mickey-mouse websites. I can tell all of you that at least one well-known PPC runs a payment page that is wide open to one of the simplest and dumbest hacker attacks in the book. When I find a bit of time I'm gonna see if I can get some poor beggar's personal information out of it, and if so I shall be straight off to the DVLA and the ICO. In fact, in the interest of staying on the right side of the law myself, I might just point out the vulnerability to the DVLA and ICO and leave them to see what they can hack out of it.

But in the meantime the moral of the story is: don't use these websites, they may not be safe or secure.

Used to be Regional Car Parks but changed to RCP in 2006 according to the PDF linked here:

    http://www.rcpparking.com/press-releases/15

Strange to have the bit about clamping on their signs (and yes, no release fee means no release fee!). Strange because their AOS membership shows they are not even clampers:

I am wondering if the new complaint to the DVLA after 1st October will be about any firm which continues to use signs with a clamping threat. Seeing as clamping will be illegal, a threat of it on their signs will surely be a breach of the BPA code of practice since it's pretending to have authority to take action that only the Council and DVLA and Police will have.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
