Think I may have overstayed at an Aldi car park, please help!!

Options
Hi, this is my first ever post on here but I'd really appreciate some advice.
I parked at my local Aldi today which has big signs up saying maximun stay 1 1/2 hrs. I think I was slightly over that (maybe by 10 mins). Didn't think anything of it as I'd done some shopping there and haddn't come back to find a notice on the car or anything... However, I've come home and my husband tells me that it's all monitored by high tech cameras and there'll definately be a fine in the post! £70!!!!!
The car is registered in his name and he's not happy with me at all :( I've read a couple of things saying don't pay if a fine comes through but this seems a little scary! Has anyone had the same problem, what should I do if a letter comes through?
Is it worth me contacting the store manager, could they do anything?
Thank you!

    I've been Money Tipped!
If a letter does come through then you need to look at which parking company issued it. Search the forum for that company name and follow the advice given, which will always be to ignore these letters.

You will not have to pay a single penny. Read through some of the threads on here and show your husband some too in case he thinks paying is a good idea.

    Yes, lots of us.
Nothing; it's meaningless but is meant to try and scare you into paying.
No, unless you are telling him you will never shop at his store again.
    No problem.

hi there, worry not, you have been a nearly victim of a well known scam, carried out by parking eye, who patroll aldi car parks and fleece their customers right, left and centre, so basically if you get anything it will be a FAKE parking ticket/invoice, so just bin it and ignore all threat o grams that you may recieve,it will say parking CHARGE notice=loo paper,,only a PENALTY charge notice is legit,if its parking eye, which i am 99.9% it is, it will deffo be a FAKE ticket, so worry not, despite any threats,if need be just come back here anytime,as parking eye are well known to us, scammers of the first degree, there you go, jobs a belter then.

What did you find to do in Aldi for 1h40m?

Seriously, it will be fine - if a letter does come just ignore it. You've cost them nothing so have nothing to pay.
    Can I help?
  • Clearly your husband needs educating. Before the letters start arriving, get him to review the sticky threads in this forum, particularly the Watchdog video. Make him understand that anything they send will be completely unenforceable. DO NOT appeal. They are stimied as teh registered keeper (your husband) wasn't the driver (you); they can only attempt to get anything off the driver, but they won't know who that was if you don't tell them (which you don't have to).
  • You almost certainly have an unenforceable speculative invoice on the way from a company called 'Parking Eye'.

So, lets deal with this problem in a thoughtful and serious manner:

Do you have any cats, and do they have an indoor litter tray? If so, you MUST make sure that the litter tray has some form of paper lining for reasons of hygiene. Unenforceable speculative invoices are ideal for this purpose.
  • Just wondering if anyone can help me with my question - how does the on-line payment for parking eye work?

I got a letter with a fine from parking eye through the post today - and concerned that the 'fine' was soon about to go up I went on-line to pay.
I entered all my details - the website appeared secure etc. - but at the end it said there had been an 'error'...... but it also gave me a 'payment attempt reference' number.
This concerned me as altough it said there had been an error the simple fact that they give a reference number makes me think they have taken the money - does anyone know if this means they will have debited my account or not?
I think it's all rather mis-leading and I'm now wishing I google the company before trying pay :/

Who cares? Since you should have NO REASON to pay them a penny, does it really matter how it works. Just thank your lucky stars that it failed - you've saved yourself some money there.

Since you've tacked your post on the end of a completely unrelated thread, I assume you got here by way of a search. Now take a better look round the forum, especially the sticky threads (Click on Parking Tickets, FInes and Parking) neart the top of the screen in the breadcrumb trail, and then peruse the sticky threads. You'll discover that you were very nearly conned. Don't fool for it again, and ignore all subsequent correspondence from Parking Eye.

Oh good old Parking Eye ! Toothless and cowards :rotfl:

While I don't condone breaking their ridiculous rules you might want to read this thread - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4144539

I've never heard anything :rotfl: It could have something to do with me regularly sending them emails teasing them about how useless they are ...... or maybe because I reported them to the council planning office for breaking planning permission. I don't know but they really don't like to talk to me.

Ignore them, they'll go away. Alternatively start sending them emails like the example I have posted - they always like a good laugh at the PE office

Get your other half to go through the sticky and posts on here. It will save him 70. Have a good day with the site. And check other forums as there is good advice and you might just find save money on other things to
The word about the scammers is spreading like marmite here in the westcountry.
We workers all love it and the ppc hate it :rotfl:
