broadband virgin/sky

I have ongoing broadband connection problems, which Virgin seem to be unable to remedy. I believe the developers put some sub standard cabling in, but no one is admitting to it.
If I decided to go with Virgin Media or Sky is there any chance they wouldnt have to use this cabling to give me broadband access, I am thinking of taking one of the packages, a) to resolve my poor broadband connection b) the deals seem to be quite competitive at the moment. Alternatively, could anyone suggest a different method of receiving broadband equally as competitively priced

Have you tried connecting directly to the test socket on the master socket?
This should eliminate any sub standard extension wiring. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Yep am permanently connected to it, have done via RJ11 cable, and now via router, but thanks for the suggestion.
I believe its an external cabling problem, BT wholesale continue to say there is no fault0 -
I believe that to get the Sky broadband you have to use a BT line so it would be the same line. If you go for Virgin Media cable broadband they will run a new line to your house so it won't have any connection to your existing BT line. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
I dont think it will be cable as we are a small development about two miles from anywhere in particular, in other words fairly isolated, sorry I forgot to mention that0

As you don't have cable in your area, you're probably stuck with the normal telephone cable you have, which means you may well suffer the same issues with whatever ISP you have.Dave. :wave:0

It happened whilst using a modem and continued with a router, we use a Belkin 54, but apparently a Netgear is more likely to hold the signal for longer, according to Virgin. Thing is I dont want to sign up for a contract and find that the service is no better0

should I go for a netgear and if so where is the most money efficient place to buy it0
