I've put an application in for a rental property.. What now?

We've put in an application on Tuesday 11th (3 days ago) for a rented property. A credit check was performed on that day. The estate agent said it would take up to a week for them to decide if we've passed the credit check. I'm thinking of chasing it up on saturday and going in to the estate agents.
I'd like to ask, from your experience, how long does it take for an estate agent to get back to you, in regards to a credit check, to let you know you have 'passed' all the checks.
Also while I've started a new thread, does anyone have any Money Saving advice for first time renting.
Thanx!

My tenancy referencing took 3 days from start to acceptance.
Depends on who they use. They do credit checks and then they called my MD and my current landlord.
I would chase already.
And if you get accepted make sure your deposit goes into a scheme and you get certificate of evidence of this.0 -
I don't want to chase up and seem 'too eager' or like I'm hassling them!!Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140

No harm in phoning to just ask how its going, whether they need any further info to process your application, etc.
Credit check is usually only part of it - they will porbably contact references you have provided by phone for a chat. Then they will have to pass all the info to the LL as they make the final decision on whether to accept you or not.
You might have missed the boat now anyway, as if agents not open tomorrow, you won't be able to chase until Monday.0 -

We're planning on going in tomorrow as they're open. But we also need more information about the apartment, in order to get a contents insurance quote, because insurance companies do ask us some questions, like what are the walls made of. So I'm hopeing that the estate agents will be helpful for giving us the information about the apartment.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
Contents insurance asks for details of the house construction? Amazing. I was never ever asked for that!0

Sounds more like a buildings insurance quote rather than contents alone ...0

Oh  all I did was go on the sort of websites like moneysupermarket, for a contents quote. I take it I must be doing something wrong?:wall: Don't want to go to the estate agent and embarrass myself when I ask the EA "What year was the building made?"Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
I see what you mean - moneysupermarket doesn't allow you just to input for contents quotes. It's asking all the details which are relevant for building quotes.
Direct Line is the same.
It might just be worth posting a specific question on the Insurance board about this - say you've been directed over there from here for that question.0 -
Our agent did the credit check while we were there! It should not take 3 days for you to get an an answer... we were told the same day. Chase them.0
