Hi all
My sis-in-law had an accident the other day which she was at fault for, now the passengers in her vehicle are claiming personal injury.
How will this affect her? (sorry newbie)

If the claim is successful then it will be dealt with by her insurer as part of the claim from any other parties involved.
(As she was to blame, then it will be a fault claim and will impact her ncd unless it is protected)0 -
It is possibly worth warning her a little, especially if they are friends that are claiming, that some solicitors will send all correspondence to her as well as her insurers and they can be fairly threatening, make blunt accusations and tell her how she has now ruined lives etc.
Evidently they are predominately stock letters that are just intended to put their clients case in the best light possible but I've known a few people who are shocked to get such accusations/ letters from the solicitors of their friends etc0 -
If the claim is successfull will this impact her premium when she comes to insure again? and if so by roughly how much.
She is 30 years old 1st time driver, 1 to 2 year insured.
Are there any other impacts to be wary of ?0 -
She can do dummy quotes online (use a false name, slightly different DoB etc) and see.
Some insurers arent bothered by the total cost of a claim where as others will reflect it slightly in the premium (the bigger the claim the bigger the premium rise)0 -

Irrespective of whether or not the passengers claims are successful, her premium at renewal will be affected (if the accident involves other parties they will be claiming against her too)
If she has just 2 years ncd, then she will have nil at renewal plus a weighting for the change to her profile.
Her premium will go up a lot!
Regarding other impacts she does need to ensure that any other policyholder she is being covered with as a named driver is informed.0 -
If she has only been driving 1 or 2 years then the no claims probably wont be protected.
Quotes are likely to be several thousand pounds in line with new drivers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Sorry just to clarify, do you think that the passengers not claiming will make much difference to her premium?0
-
With some insurers the lower total claim amount would go in her favour with other insurers it would make no difference at all0

this stinks of fraudDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

haha it must do, but it's not.
Sis-in-law had an accident and her own family (passengers) are wanting to claim as they had injuries (minor) which I thought must have some kind of imapact on her insurance.0
