They asked me whether I wanted their credit card when I rang them regarding my mortgage payment that was not taken from my flex account.
They said they could have offered me a better rate card than my current one or to transfer my balance. I told them what rate I had at the moment and no more needed to be said. They were polite and probably just were doing what they were expected to do.0 -
Naw, my point has got nothing to do with advised/non advised sales. Direct mention of a product without getting the customer to confirm the competitor is usually considered a no no. You can't just launch into a sales pitch based on information you've assumed from a list of direct debts.
Erm... why?
It sounds like good common sense if you wish to cross-sell products to take note of those where a customer already has a product, but could benefit from switching.urs sinserly,

Sorry, Im really not explaining myself very well. Taking note of a product in order to tailor cross sales to a customer is common sense. I don't have an issue with it. But, in previous workplaces where cross sales have been part of the role, we were always told to get the customer to confirm the competitor ie where do you hold your car insurance? Simply stating, I can see you have your car insurance with XYZ, was considered a no no. This was because it would cause the kind of response that started off this whole thread.0
