is it possible to make money from a website

  • Google Adsense is good for making money on your web pages, but don't put all your eggs in one basket. Your website can suddenly suffer from a catastrophic drop in traffic due to Google rehashing it's search algorithm, with a corresponding drop in earnings. Try to diversify with affiliate links as well, then you don't lose everything if the s**t hits the Google fan.

  • You can make money through advertising, but if you want the income to be sustained, you're going to have to continue producing new content. Especially now Google's 'panda' algorithm favours newer material.

It is not money for nothing.

on the whole websites are valued on 6months earnings,

adsense is a god awful program for a webmaster. ad words I'm a great fan of though!

I take it no one on here has heard of CPA networks, amazon and epn are only a decent revenue if your cookie stuffing

    Adwords and adsense works together.

Advertisers use adwords to display on adsense.

How accurate is this piece of info? Does this tally up with you web log stats / Google Analytics? If so, you're not really getting a huge amount of traffic - about 34 unique visitors a day.

By all means, try a Google Adsense banner, but don't expect more than a quid a month from it. Depending on how tech savy your visitors are, you probably will probably need a few hundred unique visitors a day to make more than £10-20/month.

No-one seems to have answered my q. Does Webgain work on blogs, or will they only entertain websites ?.

    have you asked them ?
  • You have to have thousands and thousands of unique visitors each month to make money from adsense, and even then it's only peanuts.

You are right that traffic is the most important thing, so unless you have it you'll struggle. It then depends on the niche subject. If your website is in a niche which people pay a lot to advertise in, it's possible to make £10-20 a day quite easily from Adsense. If however the niche isn't desirable, you'll obviously make a lot less.
