Hi, just checked my website on url spy and it says this
200,384
Rank in United Kingdom
10,014,525
Worldwide Rank
Monthly pages viewed 3,062
Monthly visits 1,021
Value per visitor £0.16
Estimated worth £555.92 *
External links 13
Number of pages 11
so if i sell my website i could get £555.92,which obviously i dont want to do, but what about the value per visitor of 16p, how do they value that and how do i get money for it

I imagine something like url spy would look at the number of visitors, the url you have, and how many incoming links you have. The last two are to do with Seach Engine Optimization value. What something like this probably doesn't take into account is the subject of your site. If you are writing about credit cards for example you could in theory convert some of the traffic to income with the use of ads as the credit card company pay quite a high price for each click you generate.
Whereas if you are writing about your stamp collection - the visitors are not so valuable0 -

Hey thanks, say that i had a really interesting or topical website, somewhere inbetween your two extremes, how would i make money from this, google ads?0 -
Google Ads is easy to implement, as is being an Amazon Affiliate.
If you want something a bit more complex you could register with Affiliate Window and pick which retailers/products you want to advertise on your site.
If you have a really interesting niche, you could go direct to companies and ask if they'd like to advertise on the site for a monthly fee.0 -
Url Spy seems highly inaccurate. It says my site is only worth about 200. Yet it's been doing that each month. And recently it's been doing £15+ a day0

The valuation put on your website using these sort of tools is nearly always inaccurate and it's only ever worth what someone's willing to pay for it.
One of my own websites makes a regular income and I've made over £4k in two years and it's valued at £900 and another which I've had for the same length of time and has made approx. £300 in affiliate commissions is valued at £950, so it's a crazy methodology.Lao Tzu - "Give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime"

I'm an Aamzon affiliate but I haven't made very much through this program. I find the ebay partner network pays me much more than Amazon, but the best affiliate program for me is Webgains. I can earn quite a few pounds from my web shop. The site is a niche market and it is well established so I have a lot of visitors. The estimated value according to URL spy is £5,179.24. At the other end of the scale I run a club website and the value is put at £237.03. I have a few google ads on this site but I earn so little from them that they just about pay for the domain name. It suits me as I don't want to make a profit from it!Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0

I took a look at Webgains some time ago, but looks like I need to revisit.
Adsense can do really well if you've got enough traffic, a healthy CTR and a good niche. £200-300 per month is quite realistic to earn. To take it to the next level, you need a good strategy.0 -

I don't use Google ads on any of my sites or blogs, as I think they offer too much of a distraction for the returns and just don't think it's worth the bother.
