Santander credit card guaranteed acceptance??!

Hello

Has anyone any dealings with this I have a 123 account and logged in to see this, actually would work quite well for me as we have no debt apart from the car and mortgage and finally I can start getting money back from the banks.

I have a car loan with Santander and current account and savings account,

I.m just paranoid that the guaranteed acceptance is a load of bologna and it will leave a mark of my credit report.

We're trying to really tidy up our credit report to gets better mortgage so need to build my credit rating. And I was thinking this may help especially with Santander to get a mortgage of they can see we keep our accounts in good order

Thanks in advance :money:

Maybe speak to them and see how much a 'guarantee of acceptance' is likely to be?
  • I've tried but getting no where

i took this credit card on a guaranteed accpetance form and they where true to their word altho i knew my credit wasn't 100%, the downside was that i was only given a £500 credit limit, which actually is best for me as i use it for buying petrol, so i get about £10 cashback a month.....tying that in only getting shell fuel using the shell points card, i save about 4.5p per litre of petrol (but that just a side note)
  • I have debts of around £3000 but I got the 123 SCC with a £2500 limit, crazy or what. I love the cashback and they returned my £24 year charge. I just need them to reduce the limit to a less tempting one.
  • Thanks folks my credit rating is ok getting better and I think by using a card paying it off in full getting cash back etc I can use it to build my rating and get rid of my barclaycard that has nothing on it it's an initial card I've had for a while reckon a 123 card looks betterin my report
Next question how long did it take to get and do they email you to say you've been approved?

It's very much guaranteed, unless you've gone bankrupt between the date of the last CRA monthly feed they took and the date you apply.

They even want to give me one, and I have a £10K overdraft with them! However, I'm in no doubts whatsoever that, as others have said, I'd get a £500 limit...which is no good to me.

I agree, you'll get accepted as it says, but the limit could well be just £500 for the first 6 months. That's what happened to me a couple of years ago and I have what's considered to be an excellent history and have no problem getting £20K+ limits elsewhere.

I forgot to add earlier, they're so keen to push this 123 card that a few months ago they were even pestering me (by phone and letter) to convert my Zero card to a 123 card. That would have meant I'd retain a £7K limit...which is too high for me for a card that'd be settled in full each month!

On balance, I'd rather hang on to the Zero card for 2 reasons:

    1. Forex spending, and
    2. 0% offers (so far the fee has been cost-prohibitive but that may change!)

Every time I log into my Santander accounts I'm faced with a huge add for guaranteed acceptance of the 123 card, but have so far resisted based upon the last card dealings I had with them. I gave up my Zero after getting a lack of decent repeat offers/the BT fee and stick with the PO for my foreign usage.
Hoping my Barclaycard platinum which has a very sizeable limit will come up with a nice repeat in the near future just as MBNA have done ;)
  • Hi

Just thought I'd update in case anyone else is looking at this
I received a cca to sign and send back something wrong with their online service.

Logged into Internet banking today and there is my credit card and a whopping £4100 limit.
My credit rating is not the best but we have been working so hard to improve it and hopefully this will help. I am no longer classed as sub prime so next move will be getting the mortgage onto a high st rate.

I know people generally slam Santander but I think they have been great really let us turn our credit rating around I'll be loyal to them from now on
