I got a floor show last week.

I nipped in for something to eat as I'd left my sandwich at home and I was starving. As soon as I asked for a receipt, the lad went pale and said "you want a receipt?" Then he shouted over to the manager that I wanted a receipt but he couldn't remember how to print one. Someone else hastily assembled my meal while he was printing it, and the manageress came out to show me to a seat. Several people went into overdrive with the cleaning, sweeping the floor and emptying bins while stopping to ask me if everything was ok as they were passing. They never asked anyone else. A lady appeared with a bunch of balloons and all the children were given one. They all stood by the door and said goodbye to me as I left.

The best bit is, I don't even work for Gap :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

Totally agree. I once had a very annoying conversation with Gyp on this very subject when they asked me over and over again if I was wearing a certain colour coat!

I don't understand - what's your problem with identifying yourself? It makes it easier for the client and Gap (or whoever) to identify the correct transaction on their CCTV. You do realise the burger client knows your name?

Because the shopper isn't being assessed. What they are wearing or driving bares no relevance on a report. They have invoice, receipt and order numbers for CCTV it's common place for the burger place to try to identify shoppers IF they had a bad report.

And once you are identified you get the Dear John letter and bang goes that line of income.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Why should I be identified? I am doing a covert assignment. It might have some merit if they were trying to identify the transaction to assist in training but for the Gap burgers the only reason they are asking is to try and discredit the report or try and identify a shopper to stop them reporting on them in future. They may know my name but I don't announce myself and introduce myself to the staff members when I order a burger! They don't know what I look like and if they did, this is what would happen:

Where does it inform me within the store that CCTV may be used to identify me as a mystery shopper? Also how much easier can it be to locate a transaction than by the reciept? Its called "mystery" shopping for a reason!

Order number, transaction time on receipt. nothing more is needed to identify the correct transaction. you want to know what car I drive so you can keep an eye out for me or so GAP can sack me, no thanks, as annoying as GAP can be, I like my premiums its a decent source of income for non-complicated work... and without daft questions to ask!
Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

Nonsense! Gap have asked me to ID myself twice in the last six months (Only one instance was after a negative report I gave), and they've not sacked me.

I think the thing with GAP is they don't give themselves an easy time with shoppers who they need. In the past I have seen complaints about being removed and accounts closed with no explanation, I have seen them remove jobs and not explain why, they email around 1-2am and ask for a reply within 12 hours (yes ok 12 hours isn't awful but it is if you are up and out in the morning) every one else is normally within 24 hours, plus they can call for urgent jobs at 4pm and know our countries so it's a little awkward, I myself have been phoned for premiums to be told it will be online within 4hours yet payday and I am emailing (as phoning is apparently a sackable offense) its wrong or isn't there at all and finally payment..... over the last couple of years they haven't been awesome on the payment front, in their defense they have lately but not 12 months ago it was regular missed months or late payments. All that said though, they are quite easy jobs and not to strenuous on the old brain I have so I can go with it but its not easy when they don't help themselves :)

If you start doing mystery shopping and don't register as self employed, is there a good chance that the tax office catch up with you. Just I am thinking of maybe starting mystery shopping in the future and will register as self employed straight away. But I have a friend who has just started and not declaring it yet or registering as self employed.
