URGENT: FIRST TRACKING PHISHING EMAIL
I've just received an e-mail from firstmovies@psbwebsurveys.com with a heading "First Tracking- Successful" saying that they are arranging a new database for First Tracking members and that members have to reply to the e-mail with personal details (including date of birth and bank details) by 28/02/2013 otherwise members won't be considered for future projects.
This smells like a 3 week old haddock, so I phoned First Tracking and they have confirmed the e-mail did not come from them.
Please do not respond to this e-mail.
!!!!. I'm usually so good, but I know they just got merged with another company so it seemed genuine :wall:0 -

Please tell me you didn't send your bank details?
I don't send bank details by email as any decent company wouldn't ask for it that way. Particularly alongside address DOB and full name. But I do see how this will catch some out.
Question is - what's this got to do with TNS?Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

It's exactly how they asked for my details back in 2010, so it didn't seem too out of the ordinary.
TNS are being blamed as they historically send out mass emails to hundreds of shoppers with their email addresses visible. Means that everyone who receives it has hundreds of email addresses. It's the only plausible explanation for getting such a targeted phishing email.
The email has come from someone who has half a clue as they've used the correct terminology. I'm just surprised that they used first tracking as the front and not a bigger company. It's the first phishing scam I've ever had to that email account which didn't help.0 -

Maybe they didn't want to be too greedy? I suppose the smaller the company the more plausable it is? If it was Gap or MF would you have even considered it to be kosher?
It was the fact it was a smaller MS company that made me give it thought...Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk

Pretty much. I speak to real people at FT and get emails from them quite regularly.
Question now is what do I need to do to cover my backside? I am still so very angry at myself for being so stupid.0 -
Question is - what's this got to do with TNS?
TNS sent out three or four separate emails for each region with all our email addys out in the open, that is why these new scams are showing up on emails addresses normally kept for MS work.
It wouldn't have taken much for spammers to put the whole list together and pass it on.0 -

BG - I remember now a few months back. Lil me, I would ring the bank asap. There should be a 24 hr phone number. They can at least freeze your account. I don't know whether you will have to change your details though.Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk
