    Hi Pincher

When a supply transfers, it's the responsibility of the gaining supplier to send the losing supplier the meter readings they intend to use to start the new account.

The losing supplier then uses these readings to close their account.

I suspect the visit from the meter reader is coincidental. The reader will have been from us because, although you've changed supplier, we'll retain responsibility for the meter.

Meter readings provided outside of our billing window (14 days either side of the bill date for quarterly customers) don't automatically result in a bill. They’re just logged on the account.

I’m afraid, it needs human intervention to issue a bill outside of the window. Customers registered with our website can do this themselves using the Real Time Billing function.

However, this may not have been a possibility for you. If your new supplier had applied for the account before you gave us the final readings for Saveonline 9, the online facility will have been disabled.

Hope this explains what may have happened here Pincher. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

In my downtime from the Forum I had missed this policy change.

As one who had been very critical of it and had campaigned for change, may I now congratulate Eon on this new approach.

    Thank you:T

    Thanks for that backfoot.

Have to say, this policy change is due in no small part to the feedback we pass on from this forum.

So thanks also to you backfoot and all the other posters who've contributed in the past.

Cheers Malc. It's very good to know that our advice and lobbying can sometimes make a difference.

I wonder if you could start the ball rolling on my thread about Supplier Inducements. It is a difficult area and I am looking for guidance re what is acceptable or not and how we might best advise customers.

    :)

Sorry backfoot. Missed this thread. Guilty of only scanning the first post and not reading deeper I'm afraid. :o

Have to admit, this isn't an area of the business I'm very familiar with so need to ask some questions.

What I can tell you, although I know you're already aware of this, is our Reset review has made a lot of changes to the way things are done here at E.ON. Some of these changes are still being fed through.

The guys I need to talk to aren't always immediately available so hope you don't mind if I come back to you later on this. Probably looking sometime next week.

Don't want to go off half-cocked and say something inaccurate or misleading. As I say, Reset has initiated all sorts of changes in all areas of the business and I don't suppose for a moment our winback/retention policies have escaped.

    Hope this is ok.

Great stuff Malc and thanks. Look forward to your advice.
  • I was on BG variable duel fuel and moving to EDF blue.

BG called last week & offered £100 after 3 months and another £100 after 12 mths if I came back to them on the clear and simple tariff.

When I looked into it, it was dearer but I would have broke even on what I will save by moving to a fix but EDF are fixed prices for 2 winters which suits me better.

    BG now cancelled.

At what stage of your switch did they ring you?

Did BG do any sort of analysis of the relative costs for you. Were they prepared to confirm the offer in writing?
