I am on the standard tariff too, since 9th September, as SaveOnline 9 ended, but I still get the Dual Fuel and Direct Debit 8% discount.
Prior to this policy change, no 8% discount on final bill, according to my understanding.
Sorry, I was referring to the £30 exit fee which I have managed to avoid by switching from Saveonline10 which ends 31st Oct to their Standard Tariff.
I have a feeling I will not get any dual fuel discount as my gas is progressing much faster than the electric.

I put in for a bill at the end of the cooling off period. I have also cancelled my DD as I am in credit and my DD date falls just before the final switch date. Not sure what is going to happen but the max discount I can lose is £3.50.

It's now Saturday 15th September. Just had a look on the E.On website, and searched for "final bill". No official announcement.
I sympathise that advertising this policy change would encourage departures, but if the computer does not do it, and I ring up customer services, and I say "but I read it on MSE, so it must be true." will he/she laugh?

So many identikit departures. My next bill was going to be 1st November as well. I will submit readings on 1st October and get a bill, just in case the E.On computer didn't get the memo.

    Hi Pincher,

    It really is true :D,

I have spoken to the guys that look after the website today and they have said they are currently working on this to get it changed, I don't know exactly when but they are doing it.

Oh dear, logged into the E.On account, wanting to put in today's meter readings and generate a bill. Got this message:

"We're sorry but we're no longer able to accept meter readings for this account.
Please contact your new supplier with your reading."

This means I am now totally dependent on E.On's computer applying the discount on the final bill, for all the consumption since 1st August.

So naked and vulnerable. Is this what it feels like to be a woman?

    Hiya Pincher,

Don't worry, I'm sure all will be fine.

But if you have any problems, you know where I am if you need me ;)

I received my final bill from EON with no discounts. I have phoned and emailed and have been told that the T&C say no discount on final bills and that they will put a note of complaint on my account.

    Hiya Snowbelle,

What date is your final bill? And when did you call/email? If it was produced after the policy change then you should have received the discount.

If you want me to have a quick look, email me your account details.

The DD and DF discounts were applied on the final bill in full today.

An E.On uniformed meter reader turned up yesterday, took the gas and electric readings. If I hadn't switched, this would be when they normally come anyway, but the final bill was generated today, and I got the e-mail notification.

It seems like they wanted to do a final read to make sure, but then the gas final reading is an estimate for 14th October, whereas the electric final reading is "Read by me", dated four days earlier, on 10th October. This implies that the gas and electric switch are done separately, and that the date of cut-over is arbitrary, so they estimate regardless.

As usual, my readings for the end of SaveOnline 9 were ignored, and they just estimated for 9th September.

    So far, so good.

Still can't log into Scottish Power to manage my account.
I expect they are waiting for the estimated readings from E.On with which they generated the final bill. Need to log in to make sure the starting readings match up.

They have taken the first Direct Debit payment already in October, which is OK. They seem to be saying they review every three months, which negates the fixed monthly outgoing concept. Not that it matters to me, but some people need to plan their cashflow, and changing the DD every three months is non-sense.
