I'm planning a trip to France in May. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use my phone over there.

I'm on O2 (on the 300 free texts per month providing I top up by £10 tariff)

Many thanks.

Yes. Sign up for My Europe or My Europe Extra, depending how much you'll use it. The first has incoming and outgoing calls at 35p/min; on Extra you pay a £10 fee for a month, then incoming calls are free, outgoing 25p/min. You could use the free incoming in conjunction with a callback service.

Or you might unlock the phone and use a French SIM. Their ordinary tariffs are not great, but there are some call bundles on Orange, or SFR has a subscribable option with only the first minute payable; either of these choices could be used with a local calling card access number.
