I hate it so much.
My dog Lucy practically has a stroke with the stress of it all every year...the idiots round here seem to start earlier all the time.
She shakes, cowers, cries, barks non stop, all her fur up right along her back, her eyes wide with pure terror.
My other dog Jack's not that upset by them, but then he gets distressed because he knows Lucy is.

For most people, yes. There are corners of the country where people like to have fireworks from sort of now, right through. They gove it a break after a couple of weeks after bonfire night, till ariund NYe where it starts again.
Repeated home pyrotechnics are quite draining even if your animals are not unusually scared of fireworks.0 -

My puppy is only 5 months old so this will be her first bonfire night. Can I ask what you mean by prepare your dog? It's all a big learning curve for me as she is my first pet.0

They have started here already, teenagers have been letting them off in a park near us. He doesn't seem to bother. Cat hisses at them.0

Truffle was 4 months old on his first fireworks night. I used to take him out whilst they were going off and he wasn't bothered by them at all. For the first two years he was fine but as he's got older, he's 4 now, he's become scared of any loud noises, even if you clap your hands. So I'm going to look at alternatives. The worst thing is we're on holiday until 3rd november so he's not going to be happy as it is.:( Is Zylekene something people would recommend? What about Bach rescue remedy? Thanks for any advice.i_wanna_save_money! wrote: »My puppy is only 5 months old so this will be her first bonfire night. Can I ask what you mean by prepare your dog? Many years ago we had a dog who was frightened of fireworks and on bonfire night and the bonfire weekend I used to take him to the local pub about 5.0 clock and stay until midnight. There are obviously some idiots who let off fireworks at other times but he loved it in the pub and everyone in the bar area fed him treats and the landlord kept a bowl of water for him and I used to keep the jukebox going.
My wife never moaned and I can honestly say I looked foreward to bonfire night every year.
We now have a dog who is not really bothered by fireworks, so my fun has ended.0 -

Well, the most i portant thing, imo, is to keep calm and happy yourself and have a plan for the evening. Drawing the curtains and having the tv on to protect them from bangs and flashes.
Fwiw, ot all pets hate them. My cats adore fireworks, and sit and watch them from windiw sils, and my ogs just do not care.
We live near mod training area and most pets ound here get used to surprisee bangs and crashes.0
