Hi, I would go for a xmas butlins break. We first took our twins aged about 5 and dd 8 on a xmas break, I was so convinced it would be terrible we told them we were going for 1 night (not 3) so we could escape if need be!

We all had a great time, they had real reindeer and donkeys, xmas panto, visit santa and get a present, a night time follow santa around the grounds parade with torches, plus lots more. Its one of their fav breaks ever and you can do it cheaper self catering or stay in the posher apts with food incl (we did both and prefered the food incl)

PS. The decorations were great everywhere as well, inside and out lights everywhere.:D Have a great time whatever you decide.

I'd go for Disneyland Paris. It's something kids would love anyway but at Christmas it's extra special :)
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?
  • How about going to the 'Santa sleepover' at Alton towers? (look on the website for full info). Basically you stay for 1 night in the hotel, get to go on the kids rides, entry to the waterpark, xmas dinner, breakfast and see the real santa, his reindeers and the elves.

The hotel is decorated lovely. I've been every year for the last 6 years :D

  • Have a look here for the Christmas Markets http://www.britishairways.com/travel/christmas-markets/public/en_gb?cookiesAccepted=newvispop

I think you should go to Disneyland Paris - they'd love it, and even if it costs a little more than your budget, it'd be money well spent IMO.

I'd def second that! We've done the Christmas fantasy 3 times now and it's brilliant especially if you've never been, the panto is brilliant just as good as any at the theatre, the shows are really good and very Christmassy, the whole weekend is just great for kids and adults alike, and we came back in a very festive mood. There are hotels as well and we've stayed at the Ocean and Shoreline for the Christmas fantasy and it just adds that extra something to the break. It should easily be within your budget!

Congratulations on giving up smoking, my dh has done it and I am now only on one a day - just need to kick that last one!

    Xmas Saver!
my 1st suggestion would be Lapland, but from experience the prices the are not nice, I'm taking DD this yr.
The avergae price for a day trip 1 adult, 1 child was 1k, were staying 4 ngts thats in term time, just before xmas and were paying £1800, you'd be looking at 4k at least for a break.

2nd - Disneyland Paris - the children are at an age to appriciate it

3rd - Panto and overnight stay

4th Christmas market - but would they get bored after an hr or so, going by how my DD is when we got to a market here

5th - Alton towers, drayton manor park (stay over)

6th - Panto, meal - put the rest up, carry on saving cig money and blown it on a hol of a lifetime in Florida next yr??? xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I can't disagree with this list, or order.
  • Well done on giving up smoking :)
There are lots of great ideas in the thread, but can I add Christmas at Longleat. It really is very festive, and if you choose to book the Santa train, pulling up in the woods to twinkling lights and the wooden lodge is really quite special for even non believers ( evening slots better for this obviously)
Combined with a hotel stay you could do the Bath Christmas market the next day as its only 30 minutes away.
  • I'd definately go with Disneyland. Late November/early December is reasonable and the quietest time of year so no major queueing to go on rides. If you must go in holidays, go before Christmas not after cos prices skyrocket.

It's a good time as regards weather too. Cold but doable (Feb half term is always freeezing)

The least expensive hotel is Santa Fe which is a perfectly acceptable standard, but if you have boys try to swing Cheyenne, they all love cowboys lol.

Anytime from mid November is Christmas at Disney (and it 'snows' several times a day on Main Street USA)

Did I mention I looove Disney? lol :j:j:j:j
