EDF Fixed Saver V2 to Blue+: Users Beware

Can I advise anyone currently on EDF Fixed Saver V2 who has 'booked' to switch to Blue Plus Price Promise April 2014 on 1/10 to log into their accounts and check their DD settings please?
My account now shows my tariff as both of the above (the switch date is correct), but my DD has increased from £122 to £235!
I am hoping that this is yet another EDF DD system glitch, because it appears to be calculated roughly on the basis that I have to pay for both tariffs! Possibly it will sort itself out by the time of the actual switch in 2 weeks, but I'm not convinced.
This is not a one-off: my mother is on the same tariff and switch, and her DD has increased from £65 to £142!
Has anyone else with this change phoned EDF yet, I just can't face the call centre at present...
PS: no notification had been received of a change in the DD amount, I just happened to log in by chance.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

My experience of the EDF online is it's not really to be trusted.

You should receive an email confirming any change to your DD payments. A copy should also be available under 'messages' of your online account. Only that can be trusted.

Similar goes for any switching dates.

I've done exactly the same switch. I've just checked my online account and my Direct Debit has gone up from £90/month to £180/month. Looks like I'm being charged twice!

I think its only an issue with the display in MyAccount. When I switched MyAccount said my DD would be doubling but the confirmation email / letter (can't remember which) I got had a lower more reasonable amount on it.

Thanks. I've sent them an email (Ha ha, yeah, right..) to double-check anyway.

I recently "changed tariff" to Blue (not from Saver V2) and the online process was flawless including the setting and notification of the Direct Debit to the amount "quoted" for my self-certified annual consumption. In over a year I have not experienced any failure of the direct debit "notification and collection mechanism". Be patient, there is a but coming....

The direct debit recalculation engine remains "dysfunctional". Its quite likely you have been calculated for 2 tariffs:eek:

Will be posting further about the but in the Direct Debit failure thread later.

BTW in several early morning calls this week the call was answered promptly and a call to the complaints number was answer immediately.
  • Mine's jumped from £112 to £294.

I'll wait and see if they take that much from my account then put in a formal complaint.

I've just tried to log in and it says "We are currently unable to process your request due to technical reasons." Can everyone else log in ok right now?

Thanks, managed to log in now and mine is the same, the DD is showing as doubled, but it is showing both contracts. Looks like I will be paying an extra £10 a month on Blue than V2 just for Electric.
  • Same here yesterday - the direct debit had nearly doubled; checked again this morning and it has been put back to the original amount.
