"Unlimited" Mobile Internet
Hi,
I've got a mobile phone contract with 3. The contract is from 2 years ago. It's 300 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited internet for 15 pounds. I got this contract from Carphone Warehouse.
Everything has been OK in the last 2 years, until this month. It looks like 3 charged me 30 pounds for an extra usage of 17MB outside of my "unlimited" qouta. Naturally I was quite angry when I found out about it.
Upon checking my contract, I have found no mention of a qouta. It specifically says "unlimited" internet. I've even skimmed trough the small print (it so small you can barely read it) and there is no mention of a fair use policy or anything of that sort.
I have the following questions:
1. Can 3 really say that my internet is limited (the limit is 2GB) even though it is not mentioned in the contract?
2. Can they legally charge an outragous sum of 30 pounds for 17MB of overusage even though it is not mentioned in the contract that I signed?
Thanks for all your help,
Yoav

Have you phoned 3 and spoke with them regarding this?0

Yes, I have. I left that part out because I wanted to keep it short.
They said that the data limit for my plan is 2GB, and for every additional MB I need to pay 2.4 pounds or something like that.
They said it's not a mistake, that's the price I should be charged and they ain't gonna change it.0 -
t&c say fair usage?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Tell them very politely but firmly "unless its refunded (or 3 add their "all you can eat data" (unlimited handset data) retrospectively for £3 for that month as a offer) I wont ever be upgrading but I will be leaving 3 as my contract states no such unlimited internet 2GB usage in my terms & conditions & I'll have my Port Authority Code now to go somewhere I'm treated with respect & honesty with regards to my mobile networks agreed to t&c, can you transfer me to the automated PAC system now please, thankyou sir/madam"
Should make them see sense
P.A.C if you dont know is a code you give to another network which transfers your number to other network
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

What diamonds said, vote with your feet. Tmo/Virgin do actual unlimited tariffs now - you've done your time on 3, go shopping!0

Why are you looking in a contract for something that does not exist within? Your contract is for provision of service and the obligations of both parties. Your usage costs are contained in the Tariff, and this can change at any time, providing you are given notice when it changes, and this may be a text message or bill stuffer.
If it hasn't, it remains your responsibility to use your equipment in a cost-effective manner. There is little point in leaving because of this, as all networks work in exactly the same way - unless you go PAYG, in which case you pay for what you use.0 -
What about the 'inclusive' allowances that are covered by the fixed monthly charge? Are you really saying that they can cut the allowances whenever they want and without informing their customers? Why are you looking in a contract for something that does not exist within? The main and the only point of the OP was that their 'unlimited' (and without any FUP) allowance was unexpectedly cut to 2Gb.0 -
What T&C?.............
It was a question,
Add All-you-can-eat data
Add All-you-can data eat gives you all the internet use you need when you're in the UK. With all-you-can-eat data there is no restriction or fair use policy on the amount of data you can use. All-you-can-eat data on our Ultimate Internet plans or our All-you-can-eat data add-ons do not support tethering. This means you can use your smartphone as you like - so you can download apps, browse the web, look at maps and check your emails as often as you like without worrying about going over your data allowance. You can purchase an add-on for the remainder of your contract, or if you are on one of our new Essential Internet Plans (available from 8th March) you can purchase one that lasts for 30 days.
