in Credit cards
Hello,
I'm being greedy I guess. Some of you may have seen me posting in the Nationwide Soft Search thread about applying for, and receiving a new Nationwide credit card with a decent limit on it.
However, during my 'waiting to find out if I would get it or not' period, I also filled in the soft search for the Barclaycard - the reply was an 80 to 90% chance of getting an Initial card.
Now I've got the Nationwide card, shall I also apply for the Initial card too? I mean there has literally been two weeks between both sets of soft searches and me receiving the Nationwide card. If I was to apply now, Barclaycard would see that Nationwide accepted me (although B/C check Equifax dont they so my Nationwide acceptance wouldn't show up as they use Experian?)
Or should I just be happy with what I have got and no apply?
There is no reason for needing both cards, I am just curious.

I also did the soft searches on Nationwide and Barclays and got the 80-90% acceptance chance. i applied for both, nationwide said yes and barclays said no but i did apply for both at the same time.
Not sure if Barclays said no due to the Nationwide application, but there is nothing else that i can see that would cause the rejection and i always thought it would have been the easier of the two cards to get.0 -
Did you get a letter off Barclaycard or was it when you clicked 'apply'?0

It said it had to go to referral. I then got a letter about 6 days later saying it had been declined.0

I guess you could try clicking both at same time and seeing the result0

I've already got the Nationwide card.0

9.9% is the APR and £2800.0

Why did you apply for a BC initial if you've already been accepted for a nationwide card.
Surely if youve been accepted for nationwide then your credit files must be a lot better then the criteria for an initial card that you'll be lucky to get any sort of limit on that thing.0 -
I didn't and I haven't. Thats the whole point, I did the soft search on both and went with the Nationwide offer and if you remember we were discussing it in the thread I might be declined so I also did the soft search for the Barclaycard.
I've not actually clicked 'apply now' for the Barclaycard.
Although this has made me realise I dont need to apply for the Barclaycard now as like you say the Nationwide card is the much better deal.0 -
You have a prime card with Nationwide with a very good APR. Why do you need another credit card?
I wouldn't waste another search on a sub prime card, depending on your needs B/T, 0% spending or cash back i would have a shot at a decent card.
Barclaycard Platinum, American Express PLatinum cashback, Tesco, or Aqua cashback (sub prime but 3% CASHBACK table topper)0
