Natwest-Refusing to register my PPI claim

Hi folks,1st time here.My problem is with Natwest . Credit Card.I have wrote twice(recorded delivery) with my PPI mis-sell complaint, and have rung them 3 times, each time I have to repeat my complaint,They do send letters, but each has a different reference no on them, saying that they have not supplied them with proper details. I was told by one operator that my 1st letter was BINED.So I sent another,The problem is I think that they are being deliberately evasive.Every time they send out a letter,my name is miss-spelt(several variants) and they claim not to be able to process it.
I am getting worn down by them.Any advice please,Thank you in anticipation.

EGG Credit Card,I have also had this online card for several years, they recently wrote to me regarding PPI with them, they have sent me a 3page letter turning my claim down, they say that they have closed the case.........again any help with this one would be most useful.Another thanks.:A

Natwest have 40 working days to resolve your complaint. If you are not happy with the resolution (or do not even receive a response) you can ask the FOS to investigate.

On what grounds did Egg refuse your claim?
If you don't agree with their response, you can either attempt to explain to Egg where you think they have made a mistake, or again ask the FOS to investigate.

Actually they have 8 weeks (regardless of what holidays there may be) to get a response into the post.

So you need the first evidence you hold that they received the complaint - confirmation of the delivery will do, as will a letter from them saying they have it.

Give them the 8 weeks plus a couple of days to allow for the post and if you have heard nothing go to FOS with your complaint and the proof that they have received it.
  • Thank you for your response,I have been with Natwest Mastercard for 21 yrs. I have been searching for old statements, but have not found any really old ones from the 90's.What I have found is.........A letter from Natwest Creditguard Certificate. With a number on it.It says for a modest premium of 30p per month for each £100 ,I don't know if I paid this,or not. I presume I did.
It states that the premiums are charged automatically to my mastercard account.I know I paid PPI till last year when I cancelled it.I have one statement from last year with it on.
The problem with this ,from what I can see is that the Mastercard number then ,is not the same as the Mastercard I have now..........I don't know when this changed.......it must have been them when they issued me a replacement at some point.Do you think that these documents will help? I am going to thee bank to see if they have any old statements for the 90's,to at least show that I was paying Natwest monthly(big ask I know) Thank you again. 4Footer
  • Thank you Wywth,Egg turned me down because they state that they have reviewed my on-line application and are satisfied that they presented it accurately and was sufficient to provide me with all necessary information re terms&conditions.
I worked for NHS and had good sick entitlement.I stated that if I had claimed,it wouldn't have been accepted.I wrote that this was widespread practice amongst many card companies, and that the insurance was not in my best interest.I was even paying whilst not actually "Qualifying" to do so.I.E.I was not working 16+hrs a week.(from 2006)
They say that I did receive post sales literature, and won't uphold any complaint, and will not enter into any further correspondence on this matter.
They have sent me a leaflet for the FOS.
I have given you a snap-shot of my complaint letter.....not all of it,as I am a one finger typist. They sent me a war and peace length reply.I don't know if this is worth the aggro. Thanks again for your time.

If it was presented fairly and clearly then no missale took place.
I stated that if I had claimed,it wouldn't have been accepted.I wrote that this was widespread practice amongst many card companies
That is because insurance generally does what it says "on the tin".
the insurance was not in my best interest
So why did you take it out? They do not seem to have told you to.
I was even paying whilst not actually "Qualifying" to do so.I.E.I was not working 16+hrs a week.(from 2006)
How would they have known that?
They say that I did receive post sales literature, and won't uphold any complaint, and will not enter into any further correspondence on this matter.
They have sent me a leaflet for the FOS.
That is standard - although post sale literature is of limited value.
They sent me a war and peace length reply.
They want to make the case clearly - although there may be some standard wording put in.

The bottom line is, though, that they did not advise you and believe that their presale information was clear, fair and not misleading.

If they are correct then there is no missale. If you purchased the policy anyway, despite it being unsuitable, because you did not check this, then that is a mispurchase, and it is the purchaser, not the seller that is at fault.

The sale was non-advised, so you being a NHS worker is irrelevant as they are not providing advice. Your employment circumstances at a later date are too irrelevant as if you are alleging something is mis-sold we are only talking about the time of sale, if your circumstances changed they dont know that and its up to you to tell them.

They provided the terms and conditions on the website which you would have agreed to. So based on what you have said, im not suprised they rejected your complaint.
  • Thank you magpiecottage, they do seem to have sent a resounding NO to me,I guess I just complain badly. It was a long time ago and remember not a lot.I just will wait for the Natwest reply............but I won't hold my breath.Thank you for your input.
  • hi, my loans with natwest are all paid and were some time ago (certainly 10 years plus), I filled in the claim form and they have replied saying they cannot continue my claim without loan numbers and dates (even though I have provided the current account they all related to) and have advised me to send £10 but they cannot guarantee they will hold the details, will this just be a waste of time/money?? any help appreciated......... :)

Yes it would probably be a waste of money, banks have no obligation to hold records of accounts closed donkeys years ago.
  • hi guys ive recently been called by the claims advisory group about ppi, told them ok yeah send my the pack why not as i didnt believe i ever took ppi out on anything but thought this would be an easy way to find out (let them do the digging around), but after reading stuff on this site decided am not posting the docs back.. anyway just thought i`d look for some old statements and found one from 2005. now the transaction details state this

    DIRECT DEBIT PAYMENT - £54.00CR
    INSURANCE PREMIUM £13.95

i`m pretty sure i never took out ppi but i`m wondering if this was added later on maybe without me knowing (sounds dumb i know lol) can anyone else who had a hsbc credit card shed any light on this.. please tell me that its ppi and i`m due some cash back lol. i didnt realise i`v had the card so long its still going with £3k on it now unfortunately :( also when looking at a recent online statement this INSURANCE PREMIUM item is not it anymore, i did read that some ppi things lasted 4-5 years only and ended even if the card is still unexpired... any info would be greatly appreciated thanks :)
