Replacing Brake Discs + Pads

I'm thinking of replacing my rear brake discs and pad.
Kwik Fit, which I would never use quoted circa £350.
I looked at the parts online and I can see some discs going for about £10 while others are £50
My question is why this big difference?
I remember the KF guy saying something about one having ABS sensor and wheel bearing hub etc.
Do I need the expensive ones or will the cheap ones suffice?

I have a sports car and genuine manufacturers discs and pads are just under £200. I can get Ferodo or Mintex after market discs and pads for £96.
Even buying the manufacturers ones I would not expect to be charged £150 for fitting.
The job is straightfroward and I can do it myself in 90 minutes, a mechanic with a hoist and hydraulic tools should be quicker.
To answer your question, I wouldn't get the absolute cheapest but go for a reliable brand like Mintex or Ferodo and you should be OK0 -

Go for somewhere in the middle and go for a recognised brand name.0 -

i'm huessing that this is a ren megane 2003 onwards rear discs?
if so then these have the wheel bearing and some but not all have the abs sensor rings (looks like a cog) with them.
they are expensive, but you have to look at it this way if the rear discs have a wheel bearing, i wouldnt be spending £10 for it!! not to fit and and the ccheap componants breaking away and leaving the car to slam to the deck and spin you out on a motoryway.0 -
Thanks guys.
If it helps, its a 2004 Peugeot 307.
I just want to make sure I can buy the mid range (which dont have the ABS, Wheel hub etc) and still be OK?

with or without wheel bearing your choice really. if the wheel bearings are fine on both the rear disc.0

That is just scaremongering, probably from someone in the trade involved in protectionism.
Please give a factual source for this outrageous statement.
In fact why not point us specifically to what you consider to be "fake" so we can judge for ourselves.0
