Is this a good deal?

Neither can the Lumia, not that the ability to run flash is a reason for buying (or not buying) a phone.0

Personally I don't think it's a great deal.
You are paying £99 for the phone (iPhone 8GB) plus 24 months at £21.50 , a total of £615
The iPhone 4 16GB is £499 from the Apple Store, not sure how much the 8GB is new as the site is still down, possibly £399? since the 32GB is £599. So over the 24 months you are paying £215 for the price plan which is not the best. If you can afford to buy the phone either new or used and get a sim only contract or pay as you go contract (where you top up and the allowance is free) it would work out a much better deal.
Sorry, I thought I had put in my OP. The deal is for a 16gb 4s.
I don't know how much they are to buy but I'd assume at least the same as the iPhone 4 16gb. So that's £499. Then if I got a sim only deal on say £10 a month for 24 months that would then make it £740. So that would make my deal better?
Also I think I can get £50 cash back but I don't like to add that in just in case it doesn't get paid.0 -
If I were you, I'd wait a few weeks once the iPhone 5 is out to see if iPhone 4 prices go down, as many people (I think, atleast) will want to rid themselves of the 4 to get the 5.
That way, if prices do go down, you may be able to buy the iPhone 4 outright.. alternatively you could look to see contract prices go down.
If it were me, I'd buy a second hand one outright and buy a sim only contract, but that's only because I like not paying twice for something

I've been looking at that deal (o2 at Tesco), but have chosen to hold off until after the iPhone 5 announcement this evening.
I would be fairly sure that prices will drop towards the end of the month when the 5 is available, and it's possible some networks may start to reduce costs straight in the next few days when they start pre-orders.Sorry, I thought I had put in my OP. The deal is for a 16gb 4s.

I assumed it was the same deal as Simon seen on Tesco website. The only one I seen for £21.50 per month (and same allowance) was the iPhone 4 8GB http://phone-shop.tesco.com/mobile-phones-and-sim-cards/pay-monthly-phones/O2-Apple-iPhone-4-8GB-Black-6921e340-eb7b-4b0c-af3e-8765efc41df4
I have just looked again and see the iPhone 4S 16GB for the same price with same tariff and monthly cost:
http://phone-shop.tesco.com/mobile-phones-and-sim-cards/pay-monthly-phones/O2-Apple-iPhone-4S-16GB-Black-1a9a2e58-a371-4df8-a042-9a0549af6001A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
As you say you aren't a talker, would you not be better buying the phone outright and going with O2 pay as you go. Top up £10 every month and get 300 free texts & 500mb data plus the £10 is yours to use on calls etc, the more you top up the more free texts you get.
Tariff details here:
http://freesim.o2.co.uk/
Then if you later decide you want to move to sim only contract and you have a lot of credit added up on your pay as you go account, it gets taken off your monthly bills.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
There's better deals to be had for £10 per month, both on PAYG and on a 1 month sim only.
The £10 you have to spend on calls with O2 will only give you 40 minutes. (10/0.25)0 -
But is this the best all in deal?
I can't really afford to buy it outright, it would leave things tight and I don't like doing that.
I'd rather pay £100-150 for the phone and then pay a little less monthly than if the handset was "free" with the package but with a high monthly cost.0 -

Buy the Iphone 4 from Apple for £319 (£313 after Quidco) and Samsung Galaxy Ace from Carphone Warehouse on Talkmobile for £7.50 a month for 24 months. Sell the Galaxy for around £80 + £50 Quidco means contract outlay of around £50. Total over two years £363. Plus you will be getting extra minutes and texts (250/5000) and 500mb data. You will need a sim cutter as well.0
