Microsims in normal sim slots?

A quick question about microsims and normal sims(mini sims).
I have seen loads of info about how to sims into microsims by cutting them but what about using them the other way round? Will microsims work in phones with old fashioned sim slots? and do so with no modifications?

  • I've got a micro SIM cutter, it came with a couple of adaptors that allowed a micro SIM to be used in a regular SIM tray.

    They will work fine.

You can get little adaptor trays the the micro SIM will sit in so it slots into a mini SIM slot.

Or if you've not got one handy you can just line your micro SIM up carefully and the springy pins will keep it in place.

Just wait for the nano-SIM cutters (and holders)! Just think, SIM's were originally the size of a credit card.

Nano SIM cutters won't work. Nano SIMs are thinner as well as smaller.

I have seen these adapters on ebay going for pennies but I'm too tight to buy them and will try your 2nd method. I have an HTC Desire and it looks like I could slide a microsim in to position quite securely.
  • They work just fine.
If you haven't got a micro-sim with a standard-sim adapter, you could always (cheeky I know) get a sim from Giffgaff .... these are micro in a standard adapter, and then put your micro-sim in the adapter.
    Sorted!
