BT lies are accepted by Ombudsman

Options
What chance does any one have when you experience a really bad service from BT, then go through the channels of the Ombudsman only to find that all the evidence you send them falls on deaf ears and BT simply lie. I ordered Broadband via BT to a home that had never had Broadband before. BT couldn't supply in given time so I cancelled and decided to go with someone else. After the cancellation BT put a TAG on the line which blocks another provider adopting the line. After dozens of phonecalls and emails the TAG was finally lifted some 4 months later but BT claims that no one asked them to lift it until then. Today I persude a line with one of BT's helpful Indian customer service employees who claimed that there was a record of my demands and even a note on the system that BT claimed to have removed the TAG after 10 days when in fact it was still there 4 months later. I had put all this to the Ombudsman who wrote back and said that BT could not find any record of my complaint or the new provider asking for the TAG to be lifted. Having given the Ombudsman all this evidence you realise its a waste of time and they are being paid to sit and suck their thumbs.

  • The only compensation you have is the lesson learnt never to sign up with BT again.
  • BT used to wear the trousers when it came to telecomms. Back when competition was introduced BT wrote many of the processes needed to supply and port telephone numbers. This was all agreed by OFCOM (OFTEL at the time) and made official.

Basically, everything is geared up to suit BT and make it easier for them. The long winded processes all make it difficult to do even the smallest thing. Unless you're BT.

This was a two fingered salute from BT when they lost their monopoly. The unfortunate thing was regulatory sided with them, and still does.

Why I tell anyone ignore Alternative Dispute Resolution in telecoms that is being paid for by who you complain about, a Ombudsman by definition is a GOVERNMENT funded or run office, but not by Ofcom standard - its a private company.

Go straight to a small claims court if you know the probability is high you will win - that means research everything & well, Citizens Advice can help with that FREE!
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
