Amtico have a range marketed under the spacia brand which is more economical. A friend has just had it fitted and it does look good.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Buying a new home, and we will have to make choices on flooring.
Amtico Spacia comes as standard for the kitchen and wet rooms, we will probably extend this to include the downstairs hallway.
I have the following questions and hope someone will be able to help:
-If it is possible should I try to upgrade to the Amtico range and how much extra is it worth paying?
-what colours are best to minimise the appearance of scratches?
-Any other advice would really be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
I've been reading the forums for a few years now and this is my first post! I recently bought a new-build apartment (completed only next year) and received a quote from the developer for amtico flooring: £2,500 for 575 sq ft. Is that a fair quote or should I look elsewhere? Would appreciate any comments/ advice, thanks very much!0 -
My calculations put that at £14 a sq metre, which is an extremely good price for quality flooring.
Are you sure that's all over the apartment? I suppose if they knock off what they would charge for carpets etc. Anyway, just check what exactly what they'll put down.
Unless my calculations are way off! Happy to be corrected.0 -

The area is 53 sq metres approx.
This equates to £47 per sqm.
I have been quoted a few hundred less for 8 sq m less, so it doesn't sound unusual.0 -
Well since the apartment isn't completed yet (it's a new build) I guess they save on having to remove the old flooring before putting in the new one!
Glad to know I'm not being overcharged!

Oh my goodness I feel completely dense!!
I couldn't work out why it was so cheap! Someone on here quoted £30-£70 per per m sq for their Kardean so it seems like a reasonable quote.0 -
I'm having my hallway and kitchen laid with Karndean.
The price is about £40sq m. That is a cash price.
I was tempted to have ago myself but thought better of it. It is going to be down for many years so it needs to be done correctly and not by someone like me who fancies his chances.
Like most jobs, finish is in the preparation and I haven't a clue how to prep a floor.0 -
This may be a daft question but I don't know the answer so - can you lay Karndean or Amtico over underfloor heating?0

Just wonder if anyone can advise on this problem. We have currently moved house to find amtico flooring in kitchen, hallway, and cloakroom. The vendor told us it was laid about 6 years ago. But it just looks so dirty with the graining of the wood pattern filled with dirt. Cleaned it with mop and regular floorcleaner (flash) but no difference. I thought it was just the pattern! However when i looked where a fridge used to be i could see the original colour and design. It is of a light strip wood with a supposed painted pattern over the top , something that resembles painted floor boards.
So i got down on hands and knees and scrubbed an area with a scrubbing brush and OMG the muck that came off. However, reading through forums everyone says it is easy to keep clean.
Do I have to scrub the whole of the floor or is there something out there that will clean this back to its original pattination. And how do I keep it looking good? At this point in time i feel like ripping the whole lot up but again i wouldn't know how to do that either, so wondered whether I could lay some cushion floor over the top.
Any advice would be more than welcome as I know nothing about this stuff until I moved.
