Bicycle Servicing Costs

Some bike shops, Evans is one, do bike maintenance lessons that cost about £15.
Ask in the bike shop whether they run classes or do a search on the web.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

It sounds like the bike is much more than you need and therefore too complex.
Google for your local cycling club, contact them and ask for advice about exchanging it for another one and/or getting it serviced.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. No idea re cyclists/clubs, just moved to a new area (200 miles from previous one).0 -

I fell for the marketing spiel http://www.malleys.co.uk/bike/thebikes/bikes2003/p4000ladies.htm
Don't want to exchange it really ... it's some super-light aluminium alloy .... so I can pick it up and still walk up 100 steps (which I have to do quite often when out and about).0 -

I think I paid £30 or £35 for my service earlier this year. They changed one of the brake blocks, and wrecked my gears. Bargain.0

I think I spent about £150 on my last bike service. New gears, new cables, it all adds up.
If you want low maintenance look at a simple bike with a 3-speed hub (enclosed). Then you just need to oil it occasionally.0 -

I can always cycle in 5-6-7, it's when I start moving the left hand part that it all goes boobs up.0
