Credit check with online contract purchase
Hey, so I want to get a contract phone online. I have seen a deal I am happy with and want to go ahead but I have never had a contract phone before and have no idea what type of credit score I have.
I still live at home with my parents so I don't have any bills in my name or anything like that, I don't even have any store cards either! that so I don't know if I will be refused due to no credit rating?
I don't know if this would be any different in store though? My reason for buying online was for cash back but if my only option is to go in store I will do that.
Oh I'm 24 and have taken out car insurance for the last five years if that makes any difference.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

A credit check is a credit check, whether it's carried out instore or online I believe it's the same criteria. If you get refused contact the company and ask if you can supply any 'supporting documentation' for your application. If they say no... try elsewhere I guess! Don't make too many applications though as they do report on your credit file.0

Bills and car insurance are irrelevant, but having an overdraft may help.
Without any form of credit in the past your credit history is likely to be non-existent, so a sim-only contract can be a better starting point - combined with a sim-free or a PAYG phone. Contract phones often are not the best option in terms of the total cost over the contract term.0 -
If you've never had any sort of credit (bad or otherwise) I'd just go for it. IF you're refused you'll know it's down to not having a credit history and that's easy to rectify, much easier than if you had bad credit.

I agree, just apply, and see what happens (its not going to be the end of the world if you apply and are turned down).0
