Great to confirm - I think it was reported yesterday or day before - this thread moves so quickly and I had totally forgotten about it0 -
Long time lurker first time poster.....
Having read here extensively about the number of trouting incidences with APG's I decided to do some investigation.
1. DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY BEING TROUTED. You are absolutely entitled to use a valid APG anyway you wish, obviously if you're breaking the monthly £100 limit then that's another matter but if you are under the monthly limit and have even a £50 legitimate APG you are entitled to use it.
However some people feel they have done something wrong even when they haven't, so to help them I have the following suggestion......get the APG value put on a gift card.
What What !!?? I hear you say, how do I do that?
It's really quite simple.
In the Asda Price Guarantee website Q&A
I can't post the link but google
asda price guarantee questions
and it's the first one on the list
it states....
How will I get my voucher when I am entitled to one?
...............In store vouchers can be redeemed at any Asda store, as long as you present your voucher along with your original receipt.
Alternatively, you can redeem your voucher at the customer service desk if you are spending less than the value of the voucher. All vouchers must be used within 28 days of being issued. You must ensure that you retain your original receipt as vouchers are only valid when presented with the original receipt.
So boys, girls and all others......
Instead of waiting to be trouted take the initiative, when you get to the store buy something silly like a packet of gum and go to the customer service desk, tell them you want to use the ridiculously large APG to buy the gum and you have spoken to head office (I did speak to head office to confirm this BEFORE posting it here) and was told that if using the APG for items less then it's value I would get the balance put on a gift card. After the usual "I'm not sure/I need to call" 5 minute faff you'll have your nice shiny gift card complete with all your APG goodness.
It worked today for me with a £40+ APG and what was even more interesting was that they did not enter the APG barcode into the system when transferring the balance to the gift card so they're now unable to track any subsequent spend back to that APG.
Obviously you need your original receipt as always, but frankly no-one with a fake APG is going to walk up to the customer service desk and try this on so you're at lot less likely to get trouted, although they'll want to check it thoroughly.
If anyone does get silly and make accusations then just ask them firmly for their name and their position in the store, if you're feeling brave and they've made accusations within earshot of any members of the public ask them, loud enough so anyone else in earshot can also hear, if they're willing to give you a £20 gift card for your embarrassment when you prove them wrong. By taking the battle to them you put them on the defensive, remember in all of this that your APG is valid and legit as long as you haven't broken the £100 limit rule.
Good luck all and I hope some people find my first post useful.
I would concur that this is entirely possible. How easy it is depends on the CS person I suspect.
After my phone call re trouting on Friday night I went to a different store and straight to CS. I told the CS that my receipt was defaced, but my apg still valid and gave them the name of HO person who said it was ok. The girl on CS just smiled, said no problem I'll put it on a gift card for you:T! There was no call to HO or anything. I was very surprised, but she said they do that for apgs so shouldn't be a problem.
It's only a game

I've been to Mr M recently because the five beanz are 50p (the coupon scans at 85p too) & at least two of the colgates are £1 (25p with the coupon). Has anyone price matched them against Mr T recently? I tried the beanz a week or so ago for a JTD but they didn't pricematch.0
