Megaflow/Valiant - Help?!?!?!

Hi all,
We've just moved into a new house which has a Valiant CH boiler and a Heatrae Sadia Megaflow CL210 water heater (huge thing!). Both are controlled by a Siemens RWB29 Programmer. I don't have any problems working out the various programmes on the Siemens (at last, an instruction manual that is easy to follow), but I'm not sure when I should set the hot water to actually work i.e. when do I need the Megaflow to work. I kind of understand how a Megaflow works (stores water after heating but takes it straight from source as opposed to a tank) but have become used to combi boilers over the years. A very specific and somewhat 'techie' question, but any help greatly appreciated

  • Hi - had this system previously. The tank needs to be hot all the time - and as its new it should be well insulated - so you would be OK to leave the water on all the time (it will re-heat what you draw off) - The only thing we had to do was in the summer when the weather was hot we used to turn the water heater off except for a couple of hours in the early morning - simply because the heat from the pipes just added to the heat in the house (unbearable!) Bill wise its a very efficient system!
  • You don't actually need to have your hot water on constantly, the Megaflow system has a fast recovery heat-up time...1 hour before you need it am and pm....a usual setting for the timer would be...6.30 - 8.30 & 16.30 - 20.00
