Just to say how much I enjoy reading your posts. It's been such fun to hear of your plans and progress since you got your allotment. Your hard work and enthusiasm shine through!

What an inspiration, especially during these wet, dark days when I can't do anything useful outside. At least the shortest day has passed and we can look forward to spring at last.

Wishing you a happy Christmas, and a healthy and productive 2013!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! That's really kind of you to say, and so nice of you to take time out today to do so.

I'm just bumbling on, hoping I'll do the right thing for the plants. But it's been a big boost to me, in an otherwise quite "down" year, to have something to concentrate my mind on and look forward to.

Is there a saying "What's the definition of optimism over reality? Answer - a gardener" If there isn't such a saying, there should be :rotfl:

I hope you have a lovely day, today, and all the very best for next year.

Please do feel free to drop by anytime.

  • Just popped in to wish you a Merry Christmas LavenderBees, luv reading this thread and it's inspired me in making plans for my own wee plot.

It’s a nice bright day here and I’m enjoying a bacon & egg butty whilst listening to Ed “Stewpot” Stewart on the radio (Christmas day tradition) - should really get out in the garden and do some clearing away of the debris following the wind and rains of the past week – unfortunately I have to go and stuff myself full of turkey, cake, choc’s....it’s a hard life but it has to be done.

Hope you have a nice relaxing day x

I was given the book Allotment Through the Year so I will be spending my day with my nose in my book (if I get a minute) ;)

Now what chocolate should I eat first :rotfl:

  • Well, you can tell where my priorities lie...I've spent all morning in my Christmas PJs, prepping veges for my lunch :rotfl:, drinking a glass of wine, listening to R4. and feeding the pusses the odd prawn - they luvs me :p.

My pressies are still waiting to be opened...I love the anticipation of a parcel...so will make it later this afternoon before I open them.

It's so lovely that you've all popped on to my diary today to say "Hi" and Happy Christmas. I really appreciate it!

I've had a few phone calls and messages but essentially spending Christmas Day on my own. I make it a very pleasant time full of wee treats for myself and the pusses. I did think of going to the lottie with a Santa hat on, but honestly, there's nothing to do...it's all just looking after itself at the moment :o.

I bought myself the RHS Allotment journal, a couple of years ago, and have found it invaluable in the last few months for pointers of what to do when. A few weeks ago, a friend snaffled me a free copy of the Kitchen Garden magazine - that looks excellent...I might treat myself to a subscription for a year.

Enjoy the rest of your day! I've just put my free range chicken in the oven, and will need to fight with my log burner again as it just will NOT light today. I might give up and put a load of candles in front of it, and improvise! :rotfl:

Here's to us all , new and old friends alike.
