    So what would you do in the same situation, hopefully you would refund the customer

    its difficult for the trader at this point. if he's honest then he would be offering somesort of replacement with stringent checks put inplace to ensure the OP this one isnt stolen free from defects maybe contribute somewhat towards the cost of tax and pay her cancellation fee's on the stolen cars premium for the inconvienience caused.

    if he's a dishonest trader after the police visit he'll shut shop, and open in a few weeks time in a new name.

    I realise its not simple but there are some very vocal dealers on here who always say they know whats right so just wondered what they would do

    it ultimately falls to the dealer, therefore as painful as it would be financially, i would refund.

    I'd then seek recompense from whoever i bought it off.
