The amount of lifting is exactly the same whether you move 1 mile or 1000 miles. And if you're only moving a mile, the guys don't even get a rest between putting the stuff in the van and taking it out again!! I've never understood why people think moving a short distance should cost lots less than moving a long distance - the packing and unpacking is the same! All you're saving on is a bit of fuel and the time it takes to get there. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

One mile equals a one day job, 1,000 miles will be a three day job so much more expensive. Three times the wages and probably in the region of an extra 220 gallons of fuel plus two nights B&B.It's someone else's fault.0 -
Paying for the packing service is totally worth it. Would never pack for myself again, it's one of those things that just isn't worth saving the money on. What took me the best part of a month to pack up to move in my with my other half, took them a day to pack to move back, along with all his stuff!Make £2026 in 2026

I've been quoted £280 to move from a 2 bed with garage contents. I'm moving less than 1/4 mile. No packing service or supplied boxes.0
