Default Removal

Removal will never take place - that's the bad news. The good news is that the DPA stipulates that the data retention period must be 'reasonable'. This is usually taken as 6 years in England & Wales (5 for Scotland). Nothing in the DPA explicitly stipulates the period, however once the period elapses, the data is not displayed to enquirers (but the data is still retained, regardless).0

If you're fully aware its your fault and don't need reminding, why did you ask how to get a fully justified and correct default removed from your file?
Some lenders will remove the odd late payment marker as a guesture of goodwill if it is a genuine mistake. However, you actually defaulted (read: refused to pay). You can request the default be removed if you believe that is a mistake on the lender's part and not your own, but you have already admitted fault.
Yes, some people have been a bit blunt, but its a simple case. You defaulted and have admitted fault, therefore there is no chance if the default being removed.
It looks like the mortgage may have to wait for a couple more years. Look on the bright side, house prices are static, if not falling and you will have time to save a bigger deposit meaning you will get a better mortgage rate and actually save money in the long runSantander Loan [STRIKE]£3003[/STRIKE] £2100AA Credit Card [STRIKE]£3148[/STRIKE] £2676Natwest OD [STRIKE]£1500[/STRIKE] £1370Cahoot OD [STRIKE]£1000 [/STRIKE]£650Capital One Card [STRIKE]£641[/STRIKE] £400Total [STRIKE](Jan 12)[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£9546 [/STRIKE] £7196 (Now)0 -
I wasn't knocking or being unhelpful either, it's taken me almost a decade to get out of being stupid with credit and if I could have just shouted my gob off and quote bits of law that I don't understand, don't you think I would have done it myself and got them removed?
Learn your lesson like the rest of us that's all I'm saying.0 -

I don't need to be reminded that this is my fault i'm fully aware of that with my current situation trying to sort out a mortgage. I came for advice a simple no its not possible or perhaps something constructive would have been superb!! not the fun police charging in on their high horses.....I really feel the urge to come back again....

i was in the same boat as you 3 years ago i have a 6K default from a credit card and could not get a mortgage with the mainstream lender
rather than focus on removal of the default i would focus on finding a specialised mortgage broker who can get you a near prime mortgage such as a precise mortgage or something similar you will need a 20% deposit
there are some decent near prime mortgages out there mine is libor + 5% which is currently 5.70 % which is only just above a mainstream lender
good luck
