Are you planning on only ever advertising it in papers?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • Don't worry. Haven't you ever gone for a walk/drive past a house that's for sale to check it out before you book a viewing? It's usually easy to identify the house without knowing the number. Don't see that this makes much difference.

That isn't stated in the ad, so all the public sees is an empty house, no different from any other empty house.

Do you think there's a high incidence of break-ins to empty houses in the area that the house is in?

No there isn't a high incidence of break-ins to empty houses in the area! It's a very desirable area, sorry you obviously totally missed the point of my original post.

No obviously online too but even on sites like rightmove you need to look at the map to see whereabouts the property is rather than the full address being given at the start.

If the sole point of your OP was that you've cancelled with the EA, the no - I didn't miss it, merely didn't address it, as I considered it a separate point....
  • Don't see the problem either way myself. If it's listed without a postcode or a house number it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to find a house number on Google Street View from the street name alone, and a savvy house hunter will always get the post code from the Royal Mail postcode finder to check house prices in the area. We live in such a technologically advanced world it's hard to keep much a secret. Isn't there a neighbour you can give your phone number to who will keep an eye on the property for you?

Re pushy estate agents, I have to agree, and I'm trying to buy. We withdrew an offer after estate agents instructed solicitors on our behalf.
