Tesco mobile capped deals - which sim

Hi,
I have been thinking about getting my stepson a sim only deal, he has an iphone that his mum got him but he never has any credit.
We are looking at tesco as they have the option to cap the contract, so that he cant go over what we are willing to pay.
For £7.50 they offer a normal sim with 250 minutes & 5000 texts on a 1 month rolling contract.
Yet the cheapest iphone sim is £10, it only comes with 150 minutes, it still has the same amount of texts & 1gb.
We are not to bothered about him having a data allowance, he has access to wifi at our house, his mums, other family/friends houses, etc.
Do you know if I can get the normal £7.50 sim & cut it to fit in his iphone? or would this breach T&C?
Hope someone can help, thankyou.

  • Hi,

Honestly, I'd suggest going with GiffGaff. It's a bit more hassle because you have to top up, but it's basically like a pay as you go deal but at contract prices.

For £10, they offer 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. The internet is really important for iPhone users, as that is what makes so many apps useful

    Order - https://giffgaff.com/iphone-sim

On another note, before you choose any network, you should check if his iPhone is locked to any network. Was it bought from Apple, or on a contract? If it's not locked, then no problem. If it is, then it may be cheaper to just stick with the old network, or to contact them to get it unlocked.

Make sure that mobile internet is permanently switched off, otherwise be prepared to pay £600/Gb
