Help - Planning permission on next doors property

afaik you can't object to planning on the basis of a development devaluing your property.
We know this but it's just another issue for discussion:grinheart I've caught it - The TESCO bug!!:grinheartTesco points have paid for Florida holiday this year'Kids now have 'womblitis':rotfl:I :heart2: MSE£2 savings 2008 = £46Quidco £244.95 PAID 2007 - £54.62 received to dateKids Finders keepers jar £5.99 -since 26/5/070 -

I have 2 small children and the other side of the property they have 3 (terraced houses).
We are thinking that making 2 s/c properties will make more noise as both floors are going to be occupied and will be active especially evening, having children who sleep upstairs their bedroom walls will be against the proposed, sitting/kitchen dining room.
These are more of a concern really.
Maybe we just have overacted to the news
hmm see where you are coming from, but tbh don;t think this would be a factor in the p/p...
i think your making an asusmption on the type of tennant/buyer - 2 professional types... or a family with 3 kids and a dog.....i know who i'd prefer next to me.. and they don't bark

My son would be most keen to observe, he likes things like that:rotfl:

Are they actually planning on extending the building any, or just splitting the house into 2?[/QUOTE]
We are not 100% on that, just splitting I think at the moment:grinheart I've caught it - The TESCO bug!!:grinheartTesco points have paid for Florida holiday this year'Kids now have 'womblitis':rotfl:I :heart2: MSE£2 savings 2008 = £46Quidco £244.95 PAID 2007 - £54.62 received to dateKids Finders keepers jar £5.99 -since 26/5/070 -
The reason the house is being turned into flat's is because of high property prices, yet the thing you are complaining of is that it might de-value yours. Don't you find that slightly ironic?0

Are there any other houses converted into flats in the street? If there aren't, then it can be quite hard to set precedent. What is the parking situation like? When we convered a house to flats, we needed 1.5 parking spaces per flat to get PP. Just to give the example, for four flats we could get four on the drive and two comfortably on the pavement outside the house.
Flats will not devalue your property at all.
There are only specific items that you can object to and you need to stick to these points to ensure your objections are clear and to stop yourself from looking like a NIMBY. I will try and find a link for you.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

i don't see why it's such a problem. the 2 houses next door to me are bed-sit sort of places. really big houses. Never bothered me really. Just looks like a normal house, though they're converted from inside.
The sort of people that live there, are single, mainly male, with a paper tucked into their back pocket sort. Work 9-5 types. i much prefer these sort of neighbours than 2.4 children set-up, that we do have on the houses on the other side all the way down the street!God made man, man made money, money made man mad0 -

There is no 'housing shortage' in this country. However, there is a lack of AFFORDABLE housing. Slight difference.Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Atm we live in a three story terraced house. Next door have converted theirs into bedsits, we do have problems with noise etc, my girls for instance often sleep downstairs in the front room to avoid parties on the third floor.... but after all is said and done we did know about next door being rented out.. that and took a chance by buying our home. Im laughing while I write this, as its typical really, as soon as we move in here, next door suddenly erupt with young kids on the dole... whereas before there was a few quiet couples with a baby.
The reason for this is... you have to accept progression and move on, there is money in property, and more so if you can rent it out. I dont blame anybody for wanting to make money!!
I am however moving house in a few weeks... the guys who have bought our house are first time buyers... and are basically young kids. They know about next door, and it doesnt bother them.
Each to their own i say.... but I am pleased to be going..:rotfl:0 -

Thanks for your input, perhaps we are making assumptions already on the style of tenants, we've been visualising drunken students (nothing against student's before someone starts on me!!) we don't know if the new owner has plans to rent or sell, so we could end up with frequent changes in occupiers, I know it's all negatives, I think it's just the inital shock of it all:grinheart I've caught it - The TESCO bug!!:grinheartTesco points have paid for Florida holiday this year'Kids now have 'womblitis':rotfl:I :heart2: MSE£2 savings 2008 = £46Quidco £244.95 PAID 2007 - £54.62 received to dateKids Finders keepers jar £5.99 -since 26/5/070
