Question: who here's been flashed? (Minds out the gutter, I mean by a Speed Camera)

Yes it is the law (14 days) - if you are the current registered keeper i.e. your name and address are on the V5 document and you haven't changed address , just bought the car or otherwise changed your details.
The day of the offence is Day 0.
If you do receive a NIP it will include a s172 request for you to name the driver - you have 28 days to reply to that.0 -
TonyMMM is correct.
If you really were doing 35, and there was film in the camera, there's a good chance you'll either be let off with a warning, or offered a speed awareness course which would enable you to avoid points on your licence."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -
My DD was flashed last week (Sunday) and the letter came just two days later (Tuesday) She was doing 35 in a 30 zone.
I'm expecting her to get an offer of the speed awareness course as an alternative to points/fine.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I've done the speed awareness course and one thing that came up there is that only about 1 in 10 cameras have film in them at any one time (in our area at least).
My notice came about a week after the incident, but as others have said you need to give it 14 days (maybe +1 for postage) to be sure, as long as you are the registered owner of the car.0 -
Plenty of times when I had an IoM registered car, never received a ticket, and I could park in the local council car park without ever paying, as they didn't bother chasing foreign cars.0

they have to send the letter within 14 days, so they could post on 14th day 2nd class and still can take a few days to arrive after that
i would allow 21 days before you are clear0 -
Thanks all (argh this is still here. Do the MSE team ever actually do anything with reported posts? )
I am the registered keeper and owner so no issues there that might cause a delay.
It's interesting to see the comparison of when any letter should arrive to when it usually does. It would seem that though 14 days (with a bit of leeway) is the maximum time, the reality is usually sooner. If it comes to it, I would not mind doing a speed awareness course; I'd find that quite hilarious given that the one and only time I have, I get caught.
be a nice day out and meet new people and all that.
"So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0 -
Sooooooolllllllllllliiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnn!!!!!

Post over here needs moving.
@Mindless Clone
Really how long it takes could depend on how many tickets have been issued recently, and the postal system, but really, after 28 days I'd stop worrying.0 -
Your the registered keeper now? In the original post ...USER: Mindless Clone
(except that time I hired a DB9 and, come on!
