I'd just like to clarify what region free means for games.

Most games consoles are created region free i.e. the manufacturers won't lock them down to the particular region they're made for. However, publishers can - and more often than not do - lock their games down so that certain titles will only play in certain regions.

Don't think that region free means that you can buy a game from anywhere in the world and it'll work, it doesn't work that way unfortunately. The Xbox 360 is a region free machine but only a small percentage of games from outside Europe will play on a European machine.

Just something to think about if you're considering importing a machine.

I saw one of these deals posted on hot UK deals but it was mysteriously deleted and can no longer be found.
Does anyone have any more information on this website??
    Thanks

You officially would need to pay VAT and possibly a royal mail handling fee for the handling the import before the parcel would be delivered.

strangely, it appears that their head office is in london, uk

    Scam alert!

Check out their cutomer testimonials page. Bad grammar, bad spelling, nonsense sentences that appear to have been machine translated. And all of them from either an AOL address or a Yahoo address.

    Very very suspicious.

Not to mention the fact that half of them refer to a different web site! LOL

    From the FAQ page -

    Q) Where does Sandoz-Store.com ship from?

    A) We operate a state-of-the-art warehouse center in London, UK. In addition, we have a network of suppliers worldwide (mainly USA) which can ship our orders to you directly - with no extra cost.

[At the price they have the PS3 for...I doubt if its being shipped from the UK!]

    Q) Payment method!? INTERNATIONAL ORDERS!?

UK (GB) customers can pay using VISA or MASTERCARD. Under NO circumstances will Sandoz-Store.com accept INTERNATIONAL Credit Cards due to security concerns. All international orders must be pre-paid via wire transfer

So I guess you could pay by mastercard and be covered in case things go pear shaped. International might refer to countries other than the US and the UK. Anyone with tips on what to look for so that you can be covered by your credit card?

Very tempting but also a very real risk of being caught in the duty net especially considering the size of the box!

    EDIT -

Just went all the way till entering the card details and they are are charging just $34 for UPS overnight shipping (Shouldn't it be more?). Anyways when you goto checkout, they have two options - US/International and UK. It also did not say anything about the order being for less than $900 (so i guess my initial guess that international meant countries other than US and UK might be right)

Ordering something cheaper does make sense...I wonder how much duty you would have to pay though for the ps3? is it 17.5%? in which case it would bring the total to about £320 for the lot.
