It's probably straight from America, didn't work out the exchange rate but looks about right. I'm considering buying it from America, as I think I read somewhere that it is a multi-region console, i.e. games from any country will work on it.

But have just read the testimonials and they do seem a bit dodgy, they are all from aol or yahoo accounts - not saying that this cannot happen, just seems a bit strange.

Are there any issues in buying a PS3 from USA or Canada?? My brother is over there currently and i'm tempted to ask him to get one for me.

There seems to be a minimum for international orders of $900, see below lifted from the sites faq page.

    Q) How can you sell at such low prices!?

Most on-line shops require you to buy hundreds on a single order, as only then can they provide you with such low prices. We've eliminate that by setting up a MOP (Minimum Order Price), so all our customers can buy whatever they want, plus a little more.

Please understand the the MOP is setup to help our resellers, small-businesses and regular customers BUY MORE FOR LESS. The more your buy the more your save.

P.S. MOP (Minimum Order Price) is only setup for INTERNATIONAL orders - and it's currently $900.00 USD

I saw that too, but that would only mean 2 people buying PS3's on one order... total would be $1000...?

I think the US Console will play ALL Games, ALL Blue-RAY DVDs but only region-1 normal DVDs

you would need to get a powercable with a UK plug but the adapter is multi-voltage so should be OK.

You officially would need to pay VAT and possibly a royal mail handling fee for the handling the import before the parcel would be delivered.

Unless paying by CC and prepared to lose $1000/£550~ quid, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.

I asked this Q in the techie forum as I am in a similar position - being able to get one from either Japan or the US.

My understanding is the PS3 is not games encoded so any PS3 game bought anywhere will play on the console. The US & Japan are in the same Blu-ray region so any Blu Ray film purchased from these countries will play ok but UK blu-ray and UK DVD's will not play.
Power wise you just need a kettle lead....
