Might I ask which part of the
sentence in the lead post was incomprehensible?

    Cheers

I can see some of the room has been stripped however there is no mention of tiling which was really my main point. Also no mention as to the condition of the walls and if in this quotation wall repair is included.

My post should have read "£2400 sounds about right if it included stripping the room....."

    Apologies for typo!

  • Sorry I forgot to reply. No it doesn't include any type of tiling. Floor or wall.

Thanks for your replies. I did think it was high when OH told me. It was a quote from one of the sheds. We have bought the bathroom from them, however my OH has told them yes to the installation. No itemisation has been given just the price.

I have just had the same happen to me, although in the north west. Didnt get any itemisation from B&Q, just an email with a few pictures and a figure. When i worked out how much approx the items were (bath sink, tiles etc). The fitting was in the region of £3000, and my bathroom is only approx 2m x 2m. Independents quoted me somewhere closer to £2000 (and that includes ripping old stuff out, including old tiling, fitting new bath sink, shower, toilet, radiator, extractor fan, spotlights, new tiling on 3 walls, and floor).

The size of the room is largely irrelevant. Theres still a bath WHB, shower, loo etc to plumb in and fit, therses still 4 corners to tile plus a window and doorway to tile around whatever size room it is.

That's about right if it includes all the materials they will need to supply.

    Cheers

  • I paid an independant bathroom fitter £800 to remove old bathroom and tiles then refit a new suite plus fully tile the room. Everything supplied by me. This included fitting a new shower, extractor fan, towel radiator and new switches. I am in East Anglia. Your price does sound very high.
  • Didn't realise the room size had no bearing on price, i just assumed that a bigger room would be more time taken/work involved. More tiles, more lights, more pipework etc etc.

No I didn't say won't have a bearing on price and if thats how you interpreted it I apologise. I used the word "largely". Of course the material cost will be higher but the difficult bits are the difficult bits whatever the size of the bathroom. Its almost just as quick to tile a 6' x 10' wall as it is 6' x 8' Once you are on the straight bits its bosh, bosh, bosh and they are up. Same same longer lengths of pipe. Probably no different numbers of joints and thats what takes the time.
