What would be best ?
Talk Talk Essential ,pay in advance line rental £114 a year plus £3.25 a month, or Virgin Broadband only (30mb) £26 month ?
Needs, watch catch up TV ,i player etc, films(No licence), play on line games, internet etc.
Trying to get daughter and partner to save money ! they say Virgin better, more MB, faster etc, my take, TT should be alright for their needs, plus they get a landline (only have contract mobiles which with contract ending in a few months they could get a lot cheaper etc )
Any comments ?

Check what speed you're likely to get before committing, as online gaming, streaming tv etc can be heavily effected by slow download speeds (Constant buffering and disconnects from games). A good place to get an estimate is http://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/broadband_speed_in_my_area.aspx as this will show what others in your local area are experiencing speed-wise with some of your local providers.
I wouldn't rely on an accurate speed estimate given from a phone company as they're often found to be over-inflated compared to what you'll actually recieve, especially during peak hours.0 -
Cable broadband, if you can get it is vastly superior to ADSL. It also has lower contention rates and up to 100Mb if you want the premium service. Leave ADSL to those who have no choice in the matter!0
