My van wasn't described in the literature as being capable of doing 180mph. I expected it to as the literature didn't say it didn't. It doesn't. Do I have grounds to complain?

    Cheers

Your help is invaluable, you obviously have too much time on your hands.

    Cheers!

Keystone was only making the same point as the rest of us, only he did it using humour.

You obviously don't do irony and not only that but your perspective detector needs adjusting too.

Actually you said in post 6 that you don't think you are wrong in your original assertation. My post takes exactly the same position as you are but in a completely different context. I was hoping that you might pick up from that you are 100% wrong. Failed then - never mind. Would you prefer me to be a little more blunt?

Thank you but I have some sympathy with the sensitivity seeing as how OP hasn't received the answer they wanted to hear.

  • To all you people who think I'm wrong here's what I have received from Trading Standards. Any by the way I appreciate good humour and can be the best at sarcasm but when I'm genuinely asking for advice from a forum like this I do not appreciate people attempting to take the P!
I expect an apology from each and every one of you, I'm so deeply upset about this!

KEYSTONE- I do appreciate your humour but when I think I'm right I'm very headstrong. Let's hope you never find that van!

    From Trading Standards

Thank you for your email which has been referred to me for attention.

Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, Darlington Trading Standards no ndardslonger offers an advice service. I would suggest you contact Citizens Advice consumer service on 08454 04 05 06 who will be able to advise you.

However, Trading Standards enforces the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. If a trader has omitted material information from the description applied to a product and this omission influenced your decision to buy, it could be considered a breach of the regulations and trading standards can deal with this as a non-compliance issue. If you saw the screen before purchase and went ahead with the purchase, there may not be a breach of the regulations but if you ordered from a description on a website, for example, then it could be a matter for us to deal with.

If you want me to look into this, could you email me details of the website/advertisement, details/photo of the screen and a copy of your invoice.

Too many if's, could's and may's in there for that to achieve your desired result IMO.
As already said, if you had realised the problem before installing it, then you could probably have changed it, but I don't see how you can now.
