The status on my recent withdrawl:

    Status:
    Pending
Your withdrawal request is awaiting release for final processing, pending review by PayPal.

Once it has been reviewed, I receive an email and it only takes a further 2 hours to be deposited in to my bank account so I am receiving my money within 24 hours which is much better than waiting 3 working days.

Thats how I look at it TBH, I would rather have the money in 24 hours rather than the old 3-4 days.
  • I tried to withdraw money about 10am this morning and it came up with the 24 hour review thing, so I left it half an hour and tried again and it didn't have the 24 hour thingy and was in my account 20 mins later.

I have just tried to withdraw money from my Paypal account and the message stated 'for security reasons the withdrawl will be reviewed and could take up to 24 hours'. I clicked back to the transaction page then tried to withdraw again and this time it will be deposited in to my bank within 2 hours so thanks for this tip, it worked straight away so didn't have to wait to try again in half an hour.

I withdrew mine this afternoon and it said 'will take 2 hours' and it is there now. I wonder why the difference?

  • You can't stop them from reviewing your withdrawal for 24 hours if they want to but instead of withdrawing, say £60 in one transaction try withdrawing it in 2 or more transactions as with me they seem to hold approx every other one. That way you will get some of it immediately.

Is it legal for them to hold my money? I can't get an answer from them.
You could try reporting them if you think it's illegal, you may get laughed at.

It doesn't seem a great leap that they could actually be doing it for security reasons. If a scammer can sell, for example, a picture of an iphone and get £500 for it, I'd rather they didn't have the option of getting the money in their account in 20 minutes.

Having been on the receiving end, Paypal do handle the information side of it appalingly.

That has always been my biggest problem with paypal, trying to get any sensible communication/information out of them.
